Better Than You (Loki x Reader)

           Light was shining through the window onto the dining room table as workers walked back and forth, doing their jobs given by King Loki. At that moment, that said king walked in and sat down at the head of the table with the other lords that were part of his council. They all started to talk about possible laws to be passed and citizen concerns, until breakfast was brought out to them all. One of the people who brought out breakfast was (Y/N), wearing the classic maid uniform. Once everyone had gotten their meal, drinks were next.

     One of the woman came out with wine for all of them, first pouring into Loki's glass. Something was distracting her however so much that when pulling away, the glass was knocked over into his lap. He jumped up with surprise and anger. "I'm so sorry, my lord!" She gasped, quickly grabbing a towel and trying to clean it. "This is 5th time you've mess something up this week. Now I'm going to have to get this washed again, because of you!" Loki raised his voice. The rest of the staff, even from the kitchen, watched and flinched everytime he screamed, "Yes, my lord. I'm sorry for every mistake I've done, it's just-" "There is no excuse! Get out of my sight, and pack your things!" That got (Y/N)'s attention good.

     The woman was stuttering with surprise, "W-Wait, no! Please, my lord, you can't throw me out! I need this job!" She begged on her knees to stay, but Loki didn't budge at all. That was, until (Y/N) joined into the conversation. She walked over to the woman, and whispered in her ear that she would take care of this. Picking herself up from the ground, she let (Y/N) take her place, "My lord, I suggest you reconsider your thoughts on throwing this poor woman out because of a few mistakes." "A few mistakes? She turned my clothes pink, hasn't been focused at all, misses her shifts, and I shouldn't throw her out?! You don't have a clue of what you speak of!" He yelled out at her. She held her composure, "Why do you think she's been suddenly been acting that way? She's been worried-" "I said there was no excuse for her actions!"

      "Not even her son probably on the brink of death!?" (Y/N) shouted. Her composure was now gone, matching his tone. "This woman's son has caught an illness, and she's been so worried about him she hasn't been sleeping properly! The treatment that can save him she can't even pay for at this time, so all she can do is wait to see if what you pay her this time is enough to save him! Even if it was, he could be dead before it! That is why she's been distracted, because she cares for her child!" She explained. "Is it so hard to use one of those brain cells for compassion towards others, and not just being a fucking jerk to the people who put your food on the table?" He was left speechless, as well as everyone else listening to her, no one could ever out match him when he mind was made up. After a minute or so of silence, Loki walked past (Y/N) and to the maid with his hands behind his back.

     "I am sorry for not knowing your situation, it was wrong of me to act so...foolishly." He apologized to her with actual sincerity. Before she said anything else, he took out about $600 and handed it to her. "Will that be enough to give him the treatment he needs?" "It's...it's more than enough. Thank you, my lord. You are greatly forgiven." He smiled softly, and assured her to go her son today to care for him. After she bowed to him and ran out with a smile on her face, Loki walked back to his sit to see (Y/N) grinning as well. "I assume she still has her position?" "Of course, why would you ask me that?" She handed him the towel and started to walk out.

   "I simply wanted to hear you say it. A simple servant changed Lord Loki's mind, it's an accomplishment only I deserve~" She joked with a smirk, finally leaving the room. He chuckled to himself at that, admiring her remarks towards him and reminding him a lot of himself.
