Right when we were about to start, there was another knock on the door. All of us froze and the only sound then was only the knock.
“Ally?” A voice behind the door said, I knew that voice and it sounded really sad. Something is wrong with him.
“Who is it?” Pontius whispered, afraid that he could hear us.
“It’s Ryan.” I mumbled, “I told you he’ll come.” I smack his arm and was about to stand up when Pontius stopped me,
“Don’t open it. He has to know that what he did was wrong.” He lectured,
“Did you not hear his voice? Something’s wrong, Pontius.” I started to worry about Ryan.
“Did you not remember that he left you?” He shot back,
“Give him a chance, Pontius!”
“But-”
“I gave you a chance, can’t I give him a chance too?”
“Will the two of you shut up?” Cubbie scolded, “Just shut up.” All eyes were on the door, and none of us dared to move at all.
“Maybe we should wait.” Mark suggested, “See what he’s going to do next.”
“I just hope he’ll apologize.” Sean mumbled,
“And explain.” Isom added. I can tell that Pontius was really annoyed, but I have to show him that Ryan is a good guy.
“Ally, I’m really sorry. Please let me in, I need to talk to you.” Ryan begged, “I know you’re home, just let me in and I’ll explain everything. I promise.” I turned my attention to Pontius,
“You see?” I gestured towards the door, “That guy poured his heart out when I first met him. He told me everything that he never told his friends. He reminded me of myself. I mean, I told you guys everything that I never told my friends.” Everyone was silent,
“I know you’re mad, but if you just open the door-” He stopped in midsentence and started to sob. I now know that something is wrong.
“Let him in.” Mark blurted. He stood up and looked at me, “Listen to him, kid.”
“Thanks, Mark.” I flashed a tight smile.
“We’ll be in the bathroom if you need us.” He pulled sulking Pontius up and dragged him to the bathroom. It’s a weird place to hide, but that’s the only room with a door in my apartment. The rest followed as I walked to the door. I looked back and the bathroom door was closed, but they still can hear what’s outside so I know that they’ll eavesdrop. I slowly opened the door and Ryan stopped crying.
“I’m really, really sorry. Please, please, please forgive me and I can explain.”
“Well then, explain.” I demanded, but I tried to sound as polite as possible. He stepped in and dropped heavily onto the couch with his back against the bathroom. I followed him and waited for him to talk,
“I left you because I got a call from dad. He uh… he told me something… Something bad.”
“Ryan, what’s wrong?” I was a little confused when he said that it was something bad. His lips started to quiver and he squinted his eyes shut and a tear escaped the corner of his eye. He started sob, I beckoned him and he dropped his head on my shoulder and cried. I wrapped my arms around his neck and rubbed his back soothingly. “Hey, hey. It’s okay, you’re okay.”
