The Hera
Chapter 13
Voices in the Woods
~~Araya's P.O.V~~
Everyone began talking amongst themselves as I looked back at my wounded arm. I ripped the bottom of my shirt revealing a strip of my tanned stomach and used the material to make a makeshift bandage and wrapped my arm up.
"You're wounded?" Asked Thorin as he quickly walked over to me.
"Yeah but it's fine. It will be healed in no time, remember?" I said with a soft smile as he placed his hand on my shoulder reassuringly.
"Are you sure that you are okay? I can get Balin to look at it." Thorin continued being overprotective causing me to giggle. It was always cute when he got like this.
"Yes, I'm certain," I said with a smile. He pulled me close to him.
"I can't lose you. Not again." He whispers softly. He tightened his grasp around my waist as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and rested my head into the crook of his neck. Gods he is so warm! He smells faintly like cinnamon and smoke. I pulled back slightly but kept my arms around his neck. I looked into his beautiful blue eyes. An ocean I would happily drown myself in any day.
As I stared, I noticed Thorin was leaning in closer to me, and without realising I followed his lead. I closed my eyes and soon our lips met. He kissed me. It was slow and soft and passionate. Just like old times. I missed this. I never realised just how much I have missed him. I placed my hand on the back of his neck and pulled him closer to me as he ran one of his hands through my hair. His other hand moved down my body slightly to my waist bringing me closer to him so that I was pressed up against him. He nibbled on my bottom lip asking for entrance, I opened my mouth slightly and allowed his tongue to explore my mouth.
We finally broke apart due to the need for air became too great. He leaned down and pressed a single sweet kiss on my lips before pulling back. I couldn't help but grin at him as he grinned lopsidedly at me as he leaned his forehead against mine
"It's about bloody time!" Yelled Balin looking over at us which caused the others to look over as well. I rolled my eyes and smiled. Way to ruin the moment Balin...
They all began grinning and cheering which caused both Thorin and I blush and giggle out of pure embarrassment. The rest of the journey is going to become rather interesting....

I looked down at Araya and smiled. She is mine again and I don't plan on letting her go ever again. My attention was drawn to the company. As much as I would love to stay here with Araya, we needed to continue on.
My voice suddenly cut through the heavy silence that had settled on the Cliff. "Get ready we will descend into the Valley" I announced.
~~Araya's P.O.V~~
The descent was harder than I imagined massive stair-like carvings led down the Carrock, most of them so high even Gandalf had trouble climbing down. We resolved to teamwork. Always two dwarves going ahead and then helping the next two down from the upper ledge. I found myself next to Thorin, whilst Oin and Gloin helped the two of us down, while the two of us helped Kili and Fili. I couldn't help but notice that every so often Thorin would glance at me worriedly. I could see that he knew I was struggling with every ledge due to my arm. He was right. Though I won't admit it.
It took us half of the day until we finally found ourselves on the grass again, the Carrock reaching up behind us.
"We will continue on until we find somewhere, we can shelter for the rest of the day," Thorin announced, knowing that every member of our company was exhausted, tired, and in desperate need of a break. So Thorin let us on with Gandalf at his side. It took us longer than we wished, and the sun was already at its highest in the sky when we finally found ourselves on the edge of a tiny Lake, a small stream purling through the bushes and flowed into the Lake. We would definitely have enough shelter here and we would be able to take a bath in the Lake which was definitely needed for all of us if I was completely honest.
"We camp here" thorn called out turning around just in time to see most of the members of the company slumping down on the spot where they stood as we set up Bombur started to cook with what little was left from our trials of the last hours we had lost most of our provisions in goblin town.
"You all need to make yourselves presentable to Beorn, I strongly suggest a bath in the River," said Gandalf to all of us. I looked down the hill to the left of us and my eyes meet that of a river. I heard a slight voice singing to me. My eyes dart around, and I can't see where the voice is coming from. The others continue to discuss Beorn and his situation of sorts. I roll my eyes at their lack of knowledge of the outside world. Dwarves live in their own little universe.
I stand and move away from the group, looking for the voice I heard moments ago. I'm pulled out of my thoughts by Bilbo referring to Beorn as a 'Furrier'
"Good Heavens! No, no, no. Absolutely not Master Baggins. A 'Furrier' is a completely different thing entirely. Please don't say that to him he would not take kindly to it all. Might I suggest never mentioning that world as long as you are within a hundred miles of his house. He's a skin-changer. Sometimes he's a great strong man. Other times he's a big black bear. He doesn't take kindly to a mess so you should probably go wash in the river." I respond to the halflings question on Beorn's situation. My focus is off into the distance trying to search for the Voice. I look over to Gandalf for a moment. My attention is drawn to the grey wizard who raises an eyebrow at me, only to shrug it off. I ask him later.
Gandalf and Thorin get the Dwarves to finally bathe. Smelly creatures Dwarves are. I wonder deep into the woods surrounding the camp. I hear the voice again.
"Dancing a spiral we sing unaware
On fairy night wings our songs fill the air
Making a circle of magic and light
Watched silently by the Fey of the night"I heard the voices again. I looked around to see if there was someone there. I Felt and hand on my shoulder and a familiar presence around me.
"Our hearts full of love and our arms open wide
We hold the key to the fairies delight
Song in our hearts belong in the air
The words of our wisdom we bring forth to shareThe voice continued to sing. I follow where I thought the voice was coming from.
The songs in the night
As we dance 'round the flame
The Fairy Night songs are never the same
The words from our lips as we sing for the night
Impart to the Fey our hearts truest sightSounds of the forest in sweet harmony
We give the gift of our song to the fairy
Dancing a spiral we sing unaware
The fairy night wings our song fill the air"It stopped. I felt a presence near me. I look and there were no physical forms surrounding me. I raise my hand, reaching out to where I felt the aura, only for my hand to meet another. I jump back at the sudden contact.
"Who's out there? Show yourself, please. I won't harm you" I call out. A soft breeze circles around me and leads me back to the company. I was confused. Hopefully, whatever or whoever that was, would return to answer the questions that are now buzzing around my head. I decided to re-join the company. Maybe Beorn or Gandalf will be able to answer my question. Though they will have to wait until morning.
