The Hera
Chapter 10
Belonging, soulmates, Goblins and wings
The goblins holding us began to take our weapons. Before they dropped our weapons, they had taken kneel before their king who was looking over us curiously. He heaved himself up, no caring for the goblins he probably squashed in the process.
"Who would be so bold as to come armed into my kingdom?" He asked as he leaned close, his horrid breath made us all fight the urge to gag. "Spies? Thieves? Assassins?!"
"Dwarves, your malevolence." Said one of the Goblins.
"Dwarves?" He responded in disbelief.
"Well then, search them! Every crack, every crevice!"
The goblins followed their king's orders. The goblins who were trying to hold me down were struggling as other goblins ran their hands over me and I was furious. They began shoving their grubby hands in our pockets and clothing. My breath was quickening, and I was starting to lose it. I calmed myself down but I was fuming I could expose myself right now.
"What are you doing in these parts?" Asked the Goblin King turning to face us. We remained silent.
"Very well if you won't talk, we'll make them squawk! Bring up the mangler! Bring up the bone breaker!" He instructed and the goblins went crazy.
The goblins holding me down continue gliding their slimy, filthy hands over me and I lost it. I could feel myself changing form and right now I don't care I was furious, so I started to change. As my skin changed, heat rose to the surface, the goblins pulled their hands away screaming and hissing in pain. Their skin blustering from the burns. My skin started to turn green and my eyes went purple. My skin started to cool down and the goblins, in fury, grabbed me once again. They dug their long, jagged claws into my skin. I clinched my jaw in pain but not for a moment did my anger dissipate. I momentarily made eye contact with the Goblin King who smiled once he realised who I was.
"Araya? Oh, Araya my dear come to visit after all this time. We are excited to have you back." The Goblin king said standing up and moving closer to me. I look at him, glaring. I struggle to move from the goblins who were restraining me.
"You seem to be the only ones" I say through gritted teeth still trying to move from the Goblins grasp.
"Araya, I thought you learned your lesson last time you were here. You obviously didn't but maybe this should remind you." He said sitting back down on his throne. He gestures to a goblin who was coming closer to me with a knife. I was pushed to the ground then tied to a pole. Leaving my back exposed. I tried to move from their grasps and from my restraints. Then the Goblin with the knife stood in front me and then plunged the knife into my back.
I screamed. They pulled it out and stabbed me once again on the other side. They then left the knife plugged deep in my back. I started to hiss and squirm around, the knife was made of steel, which burns my skin. Suddenly Thorin steps forward and announces who he is and offers his life to protect me.
"Well, well, well... Who do we have here? Thorin, Son of Thrain, Son of Thror... King under the Mountain. Expect you don't have a Mountain. So, you're not a King... which makes you no one really! I know someone who would pay a pretty price for your head." He laughs to himself then whispers to a goblin who hurries off.
"He's a great King! Better than you'll ever be!" I yelled fuelled by anger and pain. The Goblin King turns to me with angry deep in his eyes.
"How dare you insult me!" He yelled
"Don't like the truth don't listen" I smirked.
"Need I remind you of where your Kingdom stands? In ruins, dead and gone because of you! Araya Sliverstar, Queen of the North. A queen who killed her people. You have no place to insult me." He spat with an evil gleam in his eye and smirk. I hate him.
He moves closer towards to me and pushes the knife further into me.
"ENOUGH!" Shouts Thorin who rushes to my side and grabs my hand and isn't effected by my raising temperature. Peculiar, very peculiar indeed.
Then I felt extreme pain go through my back causing me to scream. Everyone stopped what they were doing and the Goblins that were holding me started to hiss and pull away. My skin was heating up and was burning everything I touched. I feel pain going to back and I scream again. I dig my claw like nails into the pole and struggle as pain in rushing through my body. I break the pole and fall to the ground, clawing and digging into it as pain rushes through me. The skin of my back begins to tear and I feel blood drip down my back. The knife that was stuck in my back fell out and landed beside my head. I feel something push through my skin and slowly the pain stops.
I stand up and look around to see everyone gawking at me with their jaws practically on the ground. I feel a strange weight on my back. I turn to see giant black wings coming from my back.
OH. MY. GODS. THIS IS AMAZING.
My wings are beautiful. They are made of feathers and they are huge. They're big, black and they shimmer as they are covered in green and sliver fairy dust. I'm so happy I spin around and giggle like a little child. I face the goblin king with an evil smirk appearing on my face. I fly up into the air form a sword made of ice. I let my eyes turn red as they do in battle and flame like markings appear either side of my eyes. I see a bright blue light appear and Gandalf along with it. The goblin all start hissing and running from the light.
"Take up arms and fight!" Shouts Gandalf. With pleasure.
"He wields the Foe Hammer! The Beater! Bright as daylight!" The Goblin King shouts in fear. I go to attack the Goblin King when I hear Thorin call out in destress. I look over and see at least 6 Goblins ganging up on him weapon less and outnumbered. I sigh, I suppose the Goblin King can wait. We launch into battle as we run towards Gandalf. We jump from platform to platform killing every goblin along the way."Look out!" Yelled Kili as he shot a goblin that went to jump on me.
"Thanks" I said.
With some help from the other Kili picked up a ladder and used it to run some Goblin of the paths edge. Genius.
The company continued running and landed behind them. I created a barrier of ice to help hold off some goblins. Then they started to melt it with the torches. So, I focused on power and brought my hands up. Concentrating my power to my hands, I clapped them together and the goblins were pushed back by the sound waves.
I caught up with rest of group and momentarily thought we were safe until a loud cracking noise and an eruption of wooden planks announced the arrival of the Goblin King. H eheaved his body up on the path in front of us blocking our way, his eyes alight with anger and his thin lips pulled back in a snarl. The other goblins surround us blocking our escape.
"Thought you could escape? HA! What are you going to do now wizard?" The Goblin King yelled as he swung his wooden staff around.
Gandalf swiped his sword at the Goblin King slicing his stomach open.
"That. Now Araya, your turn." I giggle and formed a sword with little spikes along the edges and stabbed it straight into his eye. He screamed pain and I giggled. He fell to the floor dead. The force of his fall though caused the platform to also fall. I retracted wings fearing they'd get broken. When we landed a sicken crunch was heard. I turned to Thorin who was beside me.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yes, except you are cutting off my air supply." He replied. I moved a little so he could breathe better.
"Well that could have been worse." Said Bofur. We giggled then all of a sudden, the Goblin King's dead body lands on us. We all groaned. Thorin was squashed even closer against me.
"You've got to be joking!" Growled Dwalin.
Hope you enjoy, two chapters in one day.
