Facing forward, I gaze at the deep-set almond eyes I used to adore dearly—once filled with lively shades of blues and greens yet now stale, lifeless. Golden skin that was once beautiful, tanned to perfection, now is only pale and sickly. The once voluminous, wavy strands of strawberry blonde hair now only rest flat against the back, frail and weak.

"Wh-Who are you?" my voice questions, slightly hesitant.

I carefully watch as the shadowed eyes slightly crease, darkly shaded lips forming a grin. My once cautious heart fills with panic as hints of mischief paint themselves across the face.

It's clear to me that what's in front of me is the opposite of myself. Whereas I could always radiate confidence and positivity, the...creature...in front of me resonates with the dark.

Yet, no matter how much terror grips at my heart from the sight, I can't help but be drawn closer. I can't help but feel as though I must interact.

"Are you sure you can handle the truth, Yang?"

My eyebrows furrow at the unfamiliar name, but I choose not to question it, feeling an odd sense of deja vu. Curiosity hovers in my mind as I take a tiny step closer, pushing the terror away from my thoughts.

Gingerly, I nod my head, carefully sticking my hand out as if to call forth to reach.

Pale, dry hands shrouded in a dark aura grasp my right palm, surrounding my vision with a void of serene murkiness. Darkness pierces my body, pulsating throughout my veins.

As the light within me fights the dark, waging an eternal conflict that somehow sanctifies me, a familiar voice whispers in my ears. I relax, my unease now vanquished and my soul ready for the truth ahead.

"If you could shine brighter, I'd be the dark."

My eyes snap open, staring into the reflective glass ahead, not daring to speak up.

"I am your Yin, but more importantly..."

I place my hand on the mirror, matching it with the pictorial palm, staring at the new appearance. I watch as the reflection slowly opens its mouth, clearly emphasizing every word.

"I am you."
