"donghyuck, i..." summer said not really knowing how to phrase her words.

"you cheated on me, i knew it." donghyuck said faking his sadness.

"yeah, i did. donghyuck, i'm so sorry." she said keeping the vibe.

"go, go away, i don't want to see you any more, don't you dare come back." donghyuck said wiping off his "tears", their eyes came in contact and they burst into fits of laughter.

"okay so what did you want to tell me." donghyuck said while tapping on his phone to play their shared playlist which consisted of some summer vibed songs and a few guitar instrumentals that they vibe to every time they're at the beach.

"i... uhh... you know how i take a photo on every summer day, well yeah, i... i printed them out last week and..." she said fumbling through her bag for the small box that contained of many of their photos, dating way back when they were little kids.

"geez, i was emotionally preparing for what you had to say, i thought it would be something like, your mom kicked you out of the house all of a sudden, or you got your health checkup back and have like i dont know... stage two colon cancer or something..."

"always so dramatic..."

the two fell silent as they examined picture after picture, soft giggles coming from them every now and then as the memories came flooding back.

"happy birthday, summer!" she said to herself with her eyes closed and a tired smile. the warm rays of winter sun peeked through the blinds, lightening up the room. going on her tiptoes, she reached for the long-sleeved yellow dress she had picked out the night before that was hanging on the hook behind the door of her bedroom.

"morning birthday girl," her mom said pushing a plate of pancakes to her, "summer, happy birthday, i can't believe you're eleven already," her mom asked her as she ran her hands through her daughter's hair, before reaching for a comb to comb her messy hair. "so, how does it feel being eleven?" she asked while braiding the birthday girl's hair.

"exactly the same." summer mumbled rather tired from waking up early.

"okay, all done." her mom said tightening the braids and tucking a few loose baby hairs behind her ear, giving one last look at her daughter, before walking away to take her car keys. "oh, we're driving donghyuck to school as well."

"donghyuck?"

"The boy from the family who moved in last sunday, you know? the boy who came over yesterday."

"ohhh... him," she said as realization dawned on him, she was not particularly fond of the boy.

~in the car~

"donghyuck, you know? today is summer day."

his head turned to face her, "summer, it's literally mid october and you're saying that it's 'summer day'."

"not that 'summer', as in it's my birthday therefore summer day, summer."

"wait it's your birthday? then why is your name summer then, should've been winter." he said, closing his eyes as he rested his head on the seatbelt.

"you're not gonna wish me happy birthday?" she said with a look of disappointment.

"no, why should i?" he said dozing off again.

"summer, donghyuck, look at the camera, smile." summer's mom said, who had turned around to take a photo of the two while the car stopped for the red light.

"mom! the light changed already!" summer said, "you really should pay attention when you're driving, mom."
