do take note that i wrote in small letters

where did it fail? where did the marriage fall in the cracks? soomin thought to herself as she slowly folded her shirt and placed it in her luggage. wiping a lone tear that fell from her eye, soomin stared at the room which she and her now divorced husband, jeno, used to sleep in.

admittedly, it did contain many moments from their life. the first time they had shown their vulnerability to each other, their blemishes; the moment where soomin let herself submit to jeno. there were also the smaller moments, but soomin treasured as the small things jeno did for her. when he sat on the chair with her in his lap, whispering words of affirmation that she could do it as she wrote her grant for funding her medical project. when he had let her apply makeup on his face while pecking her lips every few minutes.

lee jeno, her lover. he was handsome, but as soomin looked at the walls adorned with pictures of them together, she realised that it was only skin-deep.

this room, where she had found him, cheating on her with someone else. the moment was engraved in her mind, scarring her soul. she had just walked into the house, a smile on her face as her grant had been accepted. though the past few weeks their relationship had been on the rocks due to the fact that they were spending more time apart from each other, soomin was sure that jeno would be happy for her.

however, jeno was oblivious to the fact that soomin had entered, too busy being pleasured by someone else. so when she saw her lover, in their bed, with another woman, soomin was beyond hurt. that moment where she saw jeno's face of guilt, she would never forget that.

lee jeno. she had always forgotten that they had been high school lovers, jeno dropping his playboy act to date her. that face of guilt jeno had, it reminded her of when he had broken up with the popular girl back in high school to date her, a seemingly goody-two shoes.

guilty, but the same time, pleased. pleased that he could be with her, but guilty that he had broken his long-time girlfriend's heart.

in this case, it was pleased that soomin found out. soomin finding out that he didn't want her anymore, he had another girl to use. guilty because they were married, he was cheating, he had broken the sacred marriage vow that blinded them together.

it wasn't that he wasn't guilty of hurting soomin. soomin was his first love, the one that supported him through thick and thin. he felt guilty, but soomin never brought the same amount he pleasure he could get from other girls. she was never riled up enough for him, not bad enough, being just so...... perfect. he wanted to find girls that...... excited him.

"what are you doing? was i really not enough for you?" soomin remembered saying, her tone horrified as she looked away, biting her lips out of habit to keep the tears from falling.

"i......i can explain!" jeno cried. "it's not what you think!" the girl in the bed hurriedly put on her clothes and left, harshly bumping her shoulders against soomin on her way out.

tearing her eyes away from the wall, soomin stood up and walked outside, plopping herself on the living room couch. she and jeno had spent a good many friday nights together on the couch, cuddling while scrolling aimlessly through netflix. they had already watched all the sappy love shows thrice already. those friday nights usually ended up with them making out and soomin finding herself naked in the room.

was the couch ever cleaned? soomin suddenly thought to herself, springing up from it and shuddering in disgust. the couch was also where they had had their first argument. it was over the necessity to buy plants for decorations to put in the living room. trivial as hell, but jeno found no need for there to be plants in the house, sparking and argument with poor soomin. that argument ended up with jeno winning and soomin being salty until jeno bought her a terrarium. truthfully, the terrarium was less hassle.

soomin walked to the kitchen. they had spent a good many hours there together baking and cooking. soomin remembered jeno always sneaking up on her and backhugging her, whispering into her ear, "i love you, so so much."

what lies. soomin rolled her eyes thinking about that. obviously, jeno had no manners. it was bad manners to say those three words with a mouth of lies. lee jeno was a playboy, charming all girls into his heart. soomin was one of them, who had foolishly fallen for him.

slowly, soomin walked back to the room to get back to packing. the room. not just where soomin had found jeno cheating, but also the room where he had vehemently denied him cheating. just as the girl left, jeno cried, "look, i can explain ok? that girl was jealous of you and tried to seduce me!"

"i don't even know her! and her being jealous of me is besides the point!" soomin screamed, exasperated. thinking about it just made soomin's blood boil as she harshly yanked out one of her sweatshirts and folded it quickly.

"well it wasn't my fault! you spend so much time on work when i give you everything!" with that, jeno just exploded.

"so you're telling me it my fault? when i'm trying to earn a decent living when you are still trying to find a job? so you go and cheat on me?" soomin stared at jeno, eyes burning with rage.

"breathe. na soomin, its not your fault. inhale. exhale. inhale. exhale. jeno is a dick and you know it." clutching onto a pair of pants tightly, soomin closed her eyes, trying to erase that terrible memory.

"am i not, good enough......for you?" soomin remembered looking up to jeno.

jeno looked away, muttering a small "yes".

that was the ultimatum. "let's just. you know what. end this relationship." after a rather awkward pause, jeno said.

the incidents the past few weeks had been too much for soomin. prior to this, they had argued over the most trivial things, passing snarky comments about each other. so soomin agreed.

"breathe. you did this for yourself, you don't want to spend your life with this piece of shit who doesn't love you back and would probably have been cheating more if you hadn't found out. such a dick who deserves to have his dick chopped. prevents more broken hearts." soomin hissed under her breath, bringing herself back from her thoughts.

so the divorce was quickly arranged. the house being under jeno's name, was rightfully given to him despite the fact that he cheated. understandably, when soomin's brother, jaemin found out he was pissed. beyond pissed at his best friend jeno for breaking his sister's heart. they never mended their friendship because of that.

sniffing as she remembered the incidents that had occurred recently, the moment where she saw jeno cheat, the moment they decided a mutual divorce, the moment the divorce was accepted, soomin quickly finished packing. she took her clothes, her makeup, random items here and there.

and that was it. dragging her luggage out of the house, soomin called jaemin. thank god that he had a spare room in his flat. jaemin was single, and had "adopted" two young adults, chenle and jisung. there would be no jeno anymore.

slowly, soomin unlocked the door. taking in one last breath of the air of the house. memories of soomin and jeno during their 'honeymoon' period of love flooded her mind. if only time could rewind and saved that ruined relationship between the two. she hesitated, before pushing open the door. the air that welcomed her was new. no longer "mrs lee", na soomin was free to be her own self, find her own identity. free from the label of married, free from a cheater who stopped loving her.

"hope you get an std from all the girls you sleep with next time," soomin smirked. she was ready to start a new life and create new memories for herself.
