Park Jisung sat in his dorm, spacing out. His eyes were trained on the picturesque canvas Renjun had spent months on, finding the mixed variety of color splotches visually astounding. However, his eyes barely processed the sight in front of him as he took in the slight hints of blue fusing with a lavender.
Renjun had painted the sunset.
"Why are you just sitting there like that?" asked the boy as soon as he'd walked into the living room.
Renjun was still adorning his colorful apron, having just returned from the art studio where he spent most of his time.
Jisung snapped out of his thoughts, quickly standing up to walk into his room. "I was just thinking..."
Renjun, seeing the frustrated look on Jisung's face, continued to talk to him. "What's up?"
"Oh—uh...it's just that I'm taking Aerin out tomorrow for our one-year anniversary, and I don't really know what to do," he said, touching his sideburns in slight embarrassment.
He had told the girl that he had something special planned, but things had changed and his original plan was canceled. Now, he didn't know what he could possibly do.
"Right! You're taking Aerin out tomorrow! That sounds fun~"
"Stop~"
Renjun continued to tease Jisung, happy for the younger boy. They had a smooth-sailing relationship, working through any obstacles that camee. He was happy for both of them.
"Don't worry about it too much. I'm sure she'll enjoy whatever time she spends with you," Renjun finally said, his face resting in a neutral expression.
Jisung let out a sigh, not necessarily satisfied. "I don't know..."
Jisung knew he wanted to make it special. It was a special occasion—exactly one-year after they first got together.
Both of them had met each other the first day of college in their first year.
Jang Aerin had arrived to class late as she couldn't read many of the signs. She was a special student to everyone, quickly gaining recognition within the department and getting offers. Many were jealous of her, others envied her, and some even tried to sabotage her. Yet she continued dancing, keeping her passion alive.
Jisung was one of the few who envied her with respect. She was the closest person to him within their department. Whenever he had concerns over dance, he'd always turn to her first. They had been placed together as partners for so many small projects that they considered each other "friendly rivals." He'd never once hung out with her outside of dance. He never felt the need to.
But, he never expected to have to collaborate with her for a scouting performance— especially one many infamous people come to.
They got along easily, having fun in the practice room. They found it easy to follow along with the main choreography, create the storyline, and more.
"You don't have any chemistry," their senior stated. "You need to get to know each other to get the chemistry for the performance."
At first they were hesitant, opting to interact as they usually do. After getting scolded by their seniors again, though, they finally hung out as friends. And they did it again, and again, and again.
They had done outstanding with their performance. They received a standing ovation. They got many offers to tour with big studios over the summer.
But the best moment of the day to him was when the shorter girl walked over to him and told her she liked him.
