Shigaraki narrowed his eyes. "A traitor? What do you mean?"

"I mean that there's someone here who is lying about their intentions. I'm not sure whether or not this was something you were already aware of, and if you've been keeping tabs on him or not, but Hawks can't be trusted. He came up to me earlier today and told me that he was infiltrating the Liberation Front as part of his job. He said the heroes are trying to group up and will be launching a large-scale attack in the future."

"He told you this?"

"Yes. He said... that he was going to get me out of here," you frowned, pressing your lips together. "He told me that he's already been dropping hints to some of his allies and that I should wait until it's the right time for him to rescue me."

"I see." Oddly enough, Shigaraki's expression hadn't really changed. He just stared at you, eyes cool and unwavering. "So, what did you say to him?"

"Nothing. I thought it'd be better if he thinks I need his help. He wouldn't have told me his plan if he didn't believe I was a prisoner desperate to escape."

"That's right," he nodded. "You're not a prisoner. You don't feel like you're a prisoner, do you? After all, you can do anything you want here. You're free to say or act however you wish. You're not trapped, [Name]. You do know that, right?"

You didn't feel like a prisoner, that much was true. You were more inclined to stay here, with Shigaraki, than go back to your broken life again. So long as things were good, you weren't a prisoner, but if your perspective ever changed, you wouldn't be able to leave even if you wanted to.

"I'm not a prisoner," you agreed. "I feel safe here, and I have no desire to try and go back home. That's why I'm telling you all this. If I was still holding out hope that one day I would be rescued, I would've kept this to myself."

Shigaraki let out a heavy sigh, and then he was smiling. It was much brighter than normal; less subtle and restrained. He leaned across the couch and pulled you into his arms. He held you tight, his heart thumping wildly against his chest. You could see the blood rising to his cheeks. He was happy. Incredibly happy.

"I'm glad," he mumbled against your neck. "You really do trust me. I was worried that you might still be afraid of me."

"No. I'm not afraid anymore."

"That's good. No, it's great. You shouldn't be afraid, because there's no reason for you to be. As long as I'm here, no one will ever hurt you again." He took your hand into his fingers, gripping them with need, as if he might unravel the second you left his side. "You're such a good girl. You've always been so sweet with me. And now I've seen for myself just how loyal you are."

You pulled back slightly, so that you could look him in the eyes. "I will always be loyal," you told him. "This is my promise to you. If you keep your own promise and make sure I never have to suffer again, then I can easily do this much. So long as you don't give me a reason to regret it."

"You won't regret it. Soon enough, everything will be perfect."

Then he kissed you. He kissed you hard and deep, unwilling to part with your lips for even a second. No one had ever kissed you the way Shigaraki did. It was inexplicable, all the things you felt for him, knowing everything that he'd done.

You didn't care. As long as you could be happy again, nothing—and no one—else mattered.

It didn't take very long for your words to yield results. Hawks didn't even have a chance to leave the premises. Shigaraki had initially considered trying to feed him false intel that he would carry along to the rest of the heroes, but it was difficult to cover up the plans, especially when Hawks already knew so much, and if he found out that they were onto him, he would regroup with his allies and alert them of an emergency.
