I know I know. I vanish for almost two months and don't even have the decency to give the gala chapter. What can I say? Life really caught up with me and inspiration was hard to find.

One Week Before Hawk Moth's Defeat

Marinette sat in her seat at a cafe, spitefully eating one of the desserts that were offered instead of grabbing something from her parent's shop, idly wondering when the potential allies she'd called would show up. She had no doubt that they would come, most of them may not like her and she may not like most of them but they were all generally good people so they would at least show up when she asked.

"I won't help with whatever you're planning, Dupain-Cheng." Chloe stated rudely as she sat on the other side of the booth. 

"Well hello to you too Chloe." Marinette snarked. "And you will want to at least hear what I'm planning first."

Chloe scoffed, "Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous." But even still, the mayor's daughter stayed and the booth descended into what Chloe would one day call an uncomfortable silence. Marinette on the other hand was completely content to maintain the silence until everyone was there. 

Finally, Chloe broke and asked, "Who all is coming?"

Before Marinette could answer someone else spoke up, "Why have you called us here Marinette?"

Marinette looked up and smiled, "It's a pleasure to see you again Kagami. It's been way too long." Then she saw who was standing slightly behind Kagami, "Luka, I'm glad you could make it."

"Of course. You sounded like you need help." Luka replied. They both sat on the same side as Chloe, with Luka being slightly squished between the two girls (the booth was smaller than Marinette had thought okay?).

"Great. Now we're only waiting on Nino."

"Ugh. What possible reason could you have to invite him to whatever this is?"

"I, uh, have to agree with Chloe there Dudette. Why am I here?" Nino asked as he walked up to the table. 

Once the other four were seated and enjoying their orders Marinette explained herself. "If I told you that I had almost concrete proof that Gabriel Agreste was Hawk Moth how would you react?"

"Unsurprised."

"From what I've heard of his song that would be believable."

"The dude could definitely pull it off."

"Well obviously." They all looked at Chloe in surprise, who just scoffed, "What? Who else has the time, money, motive, and in general lack of a heart to do it."

Marinette cleared her throat, "Well, I have it on good authority that Ladybug will be making a move against him relatively soon, and I called you all here because you are all friends, good friends, with Adrien and he deserves a safe place to go while all that drama is going down."

Nino gave her a weird look, "And you don't want him to stay with you?"

"If I thought that I would still be with my parents when it happens I wouldn't hesitate to offer."

They all looked at her in surprise, but only Chloe asked what was on their minds, "You're moving out of the bakery?"

Marinette smiled a little bitterly, "No."

No one was really comfortable asking any more questions about that so they returned to the original topic. 

"How can we help dudette?"

Marinette smiled and went on to explain her backup plans for each of them. "It may take a while for the full ramifications of what he's done to catch up with Gabriel but when it does, I'm hoping to keep Adrien from the worst of the backlash."

"I have just one question." Chloe said, "Why are you doing this? I mean this goes pretty far beyond a crush."

"I don't love him if that's what you are implying Chloe." Marinette laughed, "At least not in the way you're thinking. And no matter my own feelings, no one deserves to be blamed for the actions of their parents."

"Don't worry dudette. If Adrien asks for help, we won't leave him hanging."

One Month After Marinette Leaves

"Hey, Nino?"

"Yeah, bro? What's up?"

"Do you think I could spend a couple of nights at your place?"

"Of course. The door's always open for you."

Do I have a reason for putting this in the place it's in? No. Am I willing to put in the effort of putting this as the very first chapter? Also No.
