The last thing the bat boys expected to show up in the Batcave in such a time of crisis were four animal-themed heroes, who looked more than a little worse for wear.
Damien pulled out his sword, "How did you find this place?" He demanded.
It was the one dressed as a peahen that replied, while also ignoring his question entirely, "We can hardly call her a friend, but she needs our help, and what kind of people would we be if we didn't at least try?"
Dick, seeing that they were all practically children who were clearly traumatized, asked gently, "Who are you trying to help?"
All four looked up and without a hint of hesitation said, "Marinette."
"Why do you look so scared then?" Tim asked hesitantly, already knowing that they were already in a worst-case scenario.
This time the monkey answered, "Someone did something to Marinette... It's like all her compassion was drained out of her..."
"We've never had to fight her before but she knew exactly how to take us down..."
The butterfly-dressed one looked up at the older heroes and said, "I've known Marinette almost my entire life. She doesn't have a real mean bone in her body. It was like I was looking at a completely different person..." In a much smaller voice, he asked them, "What could do that to her in such a short time?"
Before they could come up with an answer for the distraught teens an alarm started blaring from the Batcomputer, and Tim swiveled back around to assess the situation.
"Alright. It looks like we've got movement in the... fashion district? That could match Marinette."
Despite the four of them still looking completely terrified, they stood straighter and looked ready to follow the bats.
Jason stepped in by saying, "No. The four of you are staying here with Agent A."
The monkey started to protest but Damian interrupted, "She clearly scares you. We are trained and equipped to handle this."
Then a swirling blue and white portal opened (Damien could be faintly heard muttering profanities) and a woman in a white and blue rabbit suit stepped out. She looked weary and almost like she'd been through a battle herself.
When she saw the four other people in animal-themed suits she something in her seemed to harden. "We'll need more help than just the four of you, if we want to save Marinette."
