"Fools on bikes killing themselves. Natural selection is what it is." Bailey said walking down the hallway with the combination of her interns and Leo's interns following behind her. Why exactly were Leo's interns with Bailey? Well to be completely honest it was because Leo was not there. The resident had called in and took the day off, something personal came up, and Webber allowed it.
"So what's up with the Nazi, is she off her meds?" Alex Karev asked George O'Malley
"You never heard of the race?" George asked
"Chief! Dead baby bike race started twenty minutes ago." Bailey said as the group walked pass the OR board.
"All right, people! Dead baby bike race day!" Webber yelled. The interns went about explaining the Dead baby bike race to those who didn't know what exactly it was. Kase and Jemma, both who had not lived here for long, were interested in knowing this since they had not heard of it before. Arthur, who had lived here all his life, knew exactly what it was and had actually seen people racing multiple times.
"The race doesn't even have any rules. Except eye gouging - no eye gouging." George said.
"Oh great, we're going to be trapped in the Pit bandaging up idiots when we could be up in the OR?" Cristina said.
"What kind of people engage in a race that has, as its only rule, that you can't rip out the eyeballs of another human being?"
"Men, Georgie, men." Alex said.
"I need someone to get up to the OR floor, the Chief needs a right hand." Bailey said. Everyone's hands shot up into the air wanting Bailey to pick them. Even Leo's interns were testing their luck with Bailey. In the end Bailey picked George to do it. "Okay people, the rules of trauma. Don't mingle with the ER interns, they don't know their ass from their esophagus. Sew fast, discharge fast, take bodies up to the OR yesterday. Don't let me catch you fighting over patients. Got it? Come on, let's go."
"Great we are stuck with sutures" Kase mumbled as he worked on sewing up one of the bikers arms. The biker seemed to want to be there just as much as the intern did. Jemma and Arthur were both not happy seeing as Leo was not there and that made them even less likely to get them OR time. All the really interesting cases which would gain them OR time had been taken away by other interns.
"His idiot friends removed the pole at the scene." The three interns of a certain resident turned towards the ER door which had just opened as a few people walked in, one of them holding pressure on a side injury of someone on a gurney. Kase jumped up from his seat.
"Leo!" Jemma said. Kase finished the suturing he was completing before running over to Leo to see if he could help.
"Blackwell no" Leo said.
"Your bleeding" Kase pointed out.
"I'm fine" Leo said.
"Just let me help." Kase said as they entered a trauma room. Leo looked at the intern before the patient. He sighed before making a choice.
"Come here and hold pressure so he doesn't bleed out" Leo said. Kase moves forward and quickly put his hands in the place which Leo's were in about a second before. The intern watched the resident back away, his expression showed pain for a moment but then quickly changed from it. "That could have done more damage than good, someone page whoever's available and Blackwell.."
"Yes?"
"Don't stop until a doctor tells you to" Leo said. The resident headed for the door.
"Where are you going?"
"Ortho.. I think I dislocated my shoulder"
"Leo-"
"Please don't scold me Callie." Leo said as he sat on one of the beds in a hospital room. He was trying to get his over and done with quickly because he was pretty sure they might need more hands working here.
"You aren't going to be able to do any surgeries like this" Callie said
"Doesn't matter, they need help in the pit." Leo said.
"Pain killers or no?" Callie asked.
"No.. Just do it Callie." Leo said irritated. Callie Torres walked and stood behind Leo. She and male resident had been friends for a while now. Leo seemed to be good at making friends with some people and bad at making friends with others. Callie happened to be one of those he easily made friends with like Arizona.
"Are you sleeping on the couch again?" Callie asked. She placed her hand near Leo's shoulder and used her other one to grab his arm. Leo has done this whole thing before, Callie was distracting him.
"Callie I-" The next thing that came was not works but instead a noise of pain which came from Callie popping the bone back in its place. "Fuck"
"You regret it every time" Callie said.
"Regretting it and it being painful are two different things" Leo said. Callie just smiled as she helped Leo put the arm sling on. She looked at him and could just tell he was tired, all of it was just tiring.
"When's the last time you got a good nights sleep Leo?" Callie asked.
"Does it matter?"
"When it can affect you ability to work then yes." Callie said. She walked away from the male resident and went to close the blinds on the window. Leo just rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You're going to get some sleep."
"How do you plan on making me?"
"Well I am a doctor and have access to different medication which would get you to sleep." Callie said only half joking. Leo laid back on the bed and remained silent which was slightly concerning to Callie. "Leo?" She looked at him and saw that he was still awake. "I'll be back in a second."
"So weak" Leo mumbled to himself when Callie was gone. It did not take long for the female resident to come back. Leo looked away as the female walked over to his side. "Do me a favor and don't let Shepherd know.. Please"
"Why?" Callie asked.
"He will most likely at least text my brother and I really don't want to deal with that." Leo said. He felt the slight 'pinch' like feeling of a needle of course the feeling went away really quickly.
"Okay. I'll keep him away from here, I'll keep your interns away as well." Callie said making Leo smile.
"Thanks." Leo said quietly. Callie grabbed a blanket and walked back to the bed. "Hey if the dude who had a pole in his side needs surgery can you tell them to let Kase scrub in?"
"I can do that." Callie said. She carefully laid the blanket over the male resident who was really close to falling asleep thanks to what she happened to give him. "Get some sleep Leo." Leo hummed in response as he closed his eyes and let himself fall asleep
