The rest of the day was just blank.
Y/n went to her classes, but during breaks she found a hideout alone. Near the lake, behind a huge tree. She didn't want to talk to anyone, and she also didn't want to see JJ and Harry fighting again.
She didn't want to see Harry at all.
After all of her classes were done, she went to her dorm immediately, not saying a single word to anyone. She was tired of people pitying her. Some were laughing at her too. And that was the last thing she needed.
When she got into bed, she got this sudden urge to contact her father, write to him, see his face, see his picture. Y/n didn't know what it was, but she just missed him so much. And also a little bit concerned.
He's an auror after all, of course the job is risky, dangerous, and Y/n was allowed to be worried. But she tried to shrug it off. She was just paranoid because she had a tough day.
Although, that didn't stop her from writing to him, just to check up on him. She got to her desk and took a piece of paper, ink, quill, and began writing.
Dear dad,
I miss you - just checking up.
Update, Harry and i broke up. I know how badly you wanted us to be together, so i'm really sorry. It just didn't work out as well as we thought it would.
Please write back to me soon, about anything, you even could tell me about work, i'll allow that this one time.
Maybe i'm paranoid, but i miss you so much. Please write back and tell me you're okay.
Be safe, i love you.
Y/n.
She sealed up the letter in an envelope and headed to the owlery to deliver the letter. Theo wasn't in the common room when she walked past and she just couldn't help but wonder where he was.
When her gaze travelled the common room, she found Blaise, at his usual spot. Y/n decided to go up to him. His dark eyes looked at her deeply, and she was a little intimidated for sure.
"Hi, Blaise."
"Hello, Y/n Lewis."
Y/n cleared her throat and avoided his eyes, although she could feel he was still staring at her intensely.
"Have you seen Theo?" she asked.
"Owlery."
Oh, so i'll see him there, Y/n thought.
"Okay," she nodded to Blaise, "Thank you."
Blaise gave her a small smirk before she turned her heels and walked away from the common room, passing the evil rats, as she liked to call them. Malfoy and his minions. They pointed, laughed, booed at her, but Y/n tried her best to ignore them.
She walked all the way to the owlery from the dungeons. Thanks to JJ's little act, the gossips got worse. People continued to stare - glare - whisper things. Even compared Y/n to Cho, and Harry to Theo.
Just for a minute, she thought again, When i get to the owlery, Theo'll cheer me up. He makes things better.
But instead, she ran into Professor Mcgonagall, and she didn't look very well. She stopped Y/n, giving her a genuine yet sad smile. "Professor Dumbledore would like to see you in his office, Miss Lewis. Your brother is already there."
Y/n's eyebrows furrowed. "My brother? Is it about the thing with Harry, Professor?"
"No, i'm afraid it's much worse."
Worried, Y/n slipped the letter in her pocket and followed Professor Mcgonagall to the headmaster's office. She was right, JJ was already there talking to Dumbledore. The old headmaster was leaning against his desk and Y/n's brother was standing before him.
"Ah, Miss Lewis, come in, we've been waiting for you."
Y/n stepped forward and took the spot beside JJ. Her heart was pounding out of her chest. Dumbledore didn't look very pleased. But he also didn't look angry. He was gloomy.
"I'm afraid.. I have some bad news."
"Tell them, Albus," said Mcgonagall encouragingly.
"This is rather difficult," the Professor stuttered, "Uh- Well.."
"I am deeply saddened by the news that i am about to tell you, Mr. and Miss Lewis," Dumbledore said softly, frowning. He took a deep breath, and said, "Your father, Henry Lewis was killed by a death eater by the name of Victoria Fusco. I'm terribly sorry for your loss."
"Henry was one of my favourites," Mcgonagall sniffled. "Your father was excellent. I know how difficult he must be. He arranged a meeting with Fusco, nobody knows why yet but we think he was trying to bargain. And she didn't take it very well."
The scream that left Y/n's mouth was ghastly, and JJ's gasp was equally horrifying.
Their father was gone. Henry Lewis was dead.
Y/n couldn't even begin to think how her life was going to be like now that he was gone. She couldn't imagine what the other Marauders must had been feeling. Her mother, the rest of the order.
Could she do this without her father? Could she face this battle?
First, her heart got broken by some boy, and now the pieces are even more shattered. The dad she loved and adored, who also did nothing but care for her and her brother was gone.
JJ let tears fall out of his eyes, and his fingers ran through his hair stressfully. Y/n collapsed to the ground, crying, crying and crying.
JJ got beside her, and hugged her. She cried in her brother's arms, as the headmaster approached them, and gave them a comforting tap on their shoulders. "I'll give you a moment." Then he walked away.
Mcgonagall gave both of them a hug and mumbled, "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." In tears, she walked away.
"He can't be dead," Y/n sobbed, "Dad is alive, dad is-"
"I know, pumpkin, i know," JJ said, sniffling, "I wanna believe that too, but.. It's over, Y/n. He's gone."
"No! No, JJ, no he's not!"
"Please," she cried as her brother held her tighter. "Please bring him back."
She was helpless. Y/n needed her father more than anything or anyone else in the world. She didn't even get to tell him that her relationship that he so deeply supported and loved was a lie.
"It's gonna be alright," JJ reassured, "We're gonna be alright. Us and mum are going to get through this."
He wasn't sure of that. JJ himself was devastated, ruined by the news. But he had to be strong for his little sister, he had to. He couldn't let Y/n fall apart, he loved her too much. At that moment he swore he'd do anything to protect his family, and one day he'd avenge his father.
"But - but dad is one of the best aurors there is!" Y/n continued to scream. She couldn't believe it. She thought no one could get through Henry. "Well, pumpkin, even the best falls down eventually," said JJ, "He can rest now. He should rest. Dad is resting."
He tried to calm her down, tried to comfort her, told her that everything was going to be okay,
but they both knew it wasn't.
