Theodore Nott was tired of having to wear long sleeves 24/7. Tired of worrying that people might see his dark mark.

At first, he'd been eager to do this. This mission. This task. He had a head start with all the years he'd been friendly to Y/n, but now things are changing in his heart.

Y/n's family had been so good to him. He hadn't felt that welcomed in a very, very long time. Her friends and family made her feel wanted.

But he had to do this.

It was this, or death.

He would apologize to her, the Lewis, the Weasleys, but this was unforgivable and he knew that.

But what if he just stopped, and lie to the dark lord. He could do that, right? He was clever, deceitful, he could do that.

Not really. This was the only way. He was never meant to be with her. This was a lie, this whole relationship with her. Nothing but a trick.

Now, him and Draco were heading towards the room of requirements, on their way to mend a vanishing cabinet.

"Mate," Theo called him. Draco was rushing in front of him. "Should we just dip?"

Draco stopped. He crooked his head slightly. "What do you mean, dip?" he asked.

"Like, just stop this whole thing," said Theo.

"We barely started, Nott."

"I'm not liking this, Draco."

"You'll like this more than dying," Draco turned his back, now walking towards him with great anger in his eyes.

The blond pulled up Theo's sleeve, revealing his dark mark. Theo was trying to not look at it, try to forget it. Maybe if he didn't acknowledge it, it wouldn't feel real. Maybe it would disappear.

"We got fucked up, mate," Theo furrowed his eyebrows while looking at Draco. Trying to search the last bits of humanity and decency in him. But he couldn't find it.

"This is who you are," Draco spat. He looked at Theo dead in these eyes, and then down to the mark. "You can't go back."

Theo clenched his jaw and fist. He was nothing but this dirty coward. A criminal. A traitor.

"What?"

He heard a voice. A familiar voice. The voice he'd heard at night before he went to sleep and every morning when he woke up.

Y/n.

He turned to see her with teary eyes. She looked shocked. Rightfully. He knew she was going to hate him. She had her hand over her mouth, staring down at his dark markm

"I can't believe you, Theo."

Y/n walked away. Theo casted the briefest disgusted glance at Draco before chasing after her.

"Y/n!" he called. she didn't turn back.

"Y/n!" he took her hand when he finally caught up to her. "Could you just please listen?"

"No, no, it all makes sense. You were being nice to me because they wanted you to. You were using me for information," Y/n sobbed. Theo knew how upset she was, and how wrong he was. "You used me when i was most vulnerable!"

"Merlin, it took you how long to figure that out?" Draco said. He was standing beside Theo, hands in his pockets.

Theo's eyes were telling him to shut the fuck up – but of course Draco didn't want to acknowledge it.

"Y/n-" Theo started.

"You were even snooping through my stuff," she ran her fingers through her hair, stressed.
