Steve's POV
"Hey Fury, we have a situation," I said, leaving the gym.
"What kind of situation?"
"Some magical person, she looked quite young and knows Loki," I told him.
"Loki like the God of Mischief?" He asked.
"Yep, and she's being brainwashed by some men to kill me. She's powerful, I'll give her that."
"Let me do some digging, for now find somewhere safe and don't trust anyone," he warned me.
"Of course not," I chuckled. That man has some major trust issues.
I didn't really have anywhere 'safe to go to'. My apartment was be safe enough but I'd have to find somewhere else. I quietly snuck out the back door and ran to my apartment. I didn't have time to get in the car, plus I needed the exercise. If was fighting her anytime soon, I'd have to up my game.
Raven's POV
"What the fuck," my ears were ringing.
I looked around and the gym was empty.
"Fuck," I muttered.
Captain America was gone, Boss Man was not going to be happy. The two men quickly barged in calling for me. It didn't take the bald one long to find me on the floor.
"Rumlow she's over here. Holy shit, you're bleeding Raven. What happened?" The bald one asked.
"I don't know, I cant remember," I spat. I saw the piece of paper next to my foot and quickly covered it up.
"He probably went that way," I said pointing to the back door.
"Rumlow, you go out the back and see where Cap went, I'll go get the first aid," he said.
They both went in opposite directions which gave me time to hide the paper. I quickly did my exercises to escape the brainwash just before Egghead came in.
"Peirce isn't going to be happy," Egghead said.
"Who's Peirce?" I muttered.
"The Boss. This is going to sting," he said grabbing an alcoholic wipe.
"Ow," I winced, "I never got your name you know."
"Jasper, but you'll forget that by tomorrow."
"How much you want to bet," I laughed.
"Trust me, you'll lose," he chuckled.
For a brainwashing freak, he wasn't too mean. Nor was Rumlow, they were like me and had orders to follow.
"No sign of Steve," Rumlow shouted.
"We best get going and tell Peirce then. Prepare the jet," Jasper ordered.
The flight was silent for the whole hour. I had nothing to do so I just sat and thought about the letter. I wanted to remember Loki, even if it was just his hair colour or something like that. I closed my eyes and imagined meeting him.
As my eyes closed, I was teleported into a world which was sunny and rich. In the centre was a golden palace. I started running towards it, I didn't have very long dreams. I got inside the palace and it was like a force was pulling me towards a set of doors. I opened them and saw a girl. She looked a lot like me. Just small. She was talking to someone.
"I'm Raven," she said.
It was me. The girl was me. It couldn't just be a coincidence that we had the same name and looked the exact same. Who was the boy with her.
"You're the halfling," he stated.
"That would be me, I guess, who are you?" Younger me asked him.
"I'm Loki Odinson, of Asgard," he smiled proudly.
That was Loki. The one who wrote the letter. The whole world began to corrupt around me. The scenery changing to us growing up together, playing in the library. It then changed to when we were older. We were lovers, partners in crime, we were inseparable. I was finally shifted into some rural village. My magic, was at its peak, out of control and I was torturing someone. Loki calmed me down. He was my rock. He proposed before leaving me?
I was then taken to this place which looked like England, a small bungalow with a couple. I was once again there. It couldn't have been that long ago as I looked the same. I watched myself walk to the park. I watched myself break down and engulf myself in my own magic. I then watched as James threw me into a van.
I jolted awake with sweat dripping off my forehead. We were still on the plane. Rumlow and Egghead were both asleep and I had to take a minute to adjust to my surroundings. I wiped the sweat off my face and sunk back into my chair. It wouldn't be long before we were back at the facility.
I could remember everything. Loki, my dream, our childhood. Everything. I was back in control of my own mind. I took the time that the men were asleep to maintain control of my mind. I trained my mind to not respond to those words. I just had to hope it would work.
The jet landed and the men had woken up.
"Just for safety precautions we need to cuff you Raven," Rumlow said.
"I know and I don't mind," I smirked.
I knew Loki was watching me. He was most likely in my mind too so he knew that I was just acting. These men were creeps and I wanted nothing to do with them. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to work with them.
We walked into the room I knew too well and I sat in the chair.
"Mission report, my bird," an old man said. He must be Peirce.
"I went into the gym, where Captain America was. He thought I was a weak child, I then gave him a little taste of my powers and he suggested that we just use our strength with no magic or shield. I was winning until he caught me off guard and threw his shield into my head," I told him.
He looked concerned, my head was almost cured and it had only been an hour or so.
"You failed me, my bird. You are a failure," he said loudly.
I flinched at his words and felt the belts on my wrist tighten.
"Do you know nothing. You should never EVER put down your weapon, your guard when you are messing with an enemy. You have just put this whole operation in jeopardy. DO YOU HEAR ME?" He spat.
I felt tears welling up and I blinked them away.
"Turn it off. You need to pretend your under their control, my dear" I heard Loki whisper in my head.
I let my emotions go. I was numb once more as I watched Peirce storm out in anger.
"Please sit still Raven," the scientist said.
Now was the moment where Loki's methods of escaping the brainwash was being tested.
"Found."
Nothing.
"Replaced."
Nothing.
"Freezer."
Nothing.
"Night-child."
Nothing.
"Pretend you're in pain after the next word," Loki whispered.
"Unknown."
I screamed. I felt the tears roll down my cheeks, remembering all the pain I had been through. I channelled all my pain and anger into this performance, hoping that it would be enough.
