Dabi and Y/N were now in the outskirts of the Kanagawa Prefecture. The streets were empty after a major villain attack a few years ago. Some buildings still needed to be torn down while others were being rebuilt. The emptiness made Dabi suspicious about where they were heading.

"Where are we?" Dabi asked.

Y/N turned her head around to look at Dabi. At first, she thought it was a joke, but his skeptical look told her otherwise.

"We're at the end." She finally said.

"A few blocks away there's an old bridge. Once we cross it we'll be officially out of the prefecture." She continued.

"We're free." Her eyes were on the ground as Y/N started walking a little slower. "We'll be able to go our separate ways."

Her footsteps were heavy as her heart. In truth, she really didn't want him to go. But she knew he didn't want to be near her. And what they've experienced together was out of necessity and kind cruelty. She commended him for that, deception was the deadliest weapon after all. Her feelings for him were a hard pill to swallow and one she prayed she'd never show side effects.

"Something on your mind?" She changed the subject.

Dabi had been so quiet that Y/N thought he left. So, she slowed down to walk by his side. His eyes were distant as his gaze was on the ground.

He had been thinking about life in Tokyo alone. He had been alone most of his life. He never really trusted anyone except Y/N. So, having a friend didn't seem too bad. But he wanted more than a friend. But he knew she didn't feel the same. The best thing he could do was tell her close to the truth.

"We've been through hell." Dabi started. "And in every fight, I always had you to count on."

"I have to admit, I'm gonna miss you." He said softly.

Y/N froze in place. For the first time, he was actually being nice. There was no reason for it. She felt heat rise from her face. Maybe she wasn't seeing things. The air grew tense between them before Y/N laughed it off,

"If I didn't know you any better I'd say you have a crush on me."

She gave him a cheeky smile fitting for her playful demeanor. She waited for him to speak but he never did. He kept walking even though Y/N stopped.

Wait a minute... Y/N thought.

"Hey... that's not the kind of thing you should leave me hanging on..." She warned.

Dabi simply ignored her.

"Hello? Dabi?!" She called out.

Dabi still kept walking as if he never heard her. Y/N grumbled irritably as she caught up to him.

"I'll tell you more when we make it to Tokyo." He said.

"Hurry up we're a few blocks away," Dabi said.

"Quit stating the obvious." She countered.

Y/N took the lead ahead of him as they walked through the empty lot. As they got closer to the bridge both were quiet until they heard car engines in the distance.

Y/N's heart stopped. The entire area was a no trespassing zone. The streets were even blocked off with gates., it was no coincidence why those cars were there.

A convoy of black cars turned the corner at a high speed. They were driving straight towards them. The headlights were just as menacing as the flashes of fire from the gun muzzles lit up the street.

"Shit.." Dabi said.

"Run!" Y/N yelled.

The two broke in a run in the opposite direction of the gunfire. Y/N made sure she stayed behind Dabi as the bullets pelted her back. She heard another set of screeching tires around the corner.

They were trapped. They had no choice but to take cover. Y/N grabbed Dabi by the arm and pulled him into the building closest to them. The floor was dark empty and still under construction. She couldn't see much but she could tell that she was heading towards some concrete stairs.

They crossed the floor and headed upstairs as the men chased them on foot. She stayed close to Dabi to keep him safe. But she did wish Dabi would be a little faster. Each flight they went up, the closer the mafia got. She could feel one of the hitmen breathe down her neck before he began pulling her down.

She cursed herself as more men latched on. If one of them had a tainted knife it would be over for her. Y/N struggled against the first man until she slammed the back of her head into his face. She heard a sickening crunch as she broke his nose.

The man had finally let go. Y/N climbed up the rest of the stairs before running into Dabi. As soon as she landed into his arms he unleashed his flames onto the rest of the mafia. The men's lives were lost to the flames as they turned to ash.

Dabi's chest rose and fell quickly. He had overdone it again but he didn't care. It was their last mistake to put their hands on Y/N. He would've asked if she was alright but the fire was growing out of control.

"We need to go!" Dabi yelled.

Without another word, Y/N ran upstairs along with Dabi.
