It was another night in the city streets. Dabi and Y/N spent most of their time walking. The rest of the time was spent trying to find another place to sleep. Their search had come to an end once they came across an abandoned building. He checked the building's perimeter to find another way in while Y/N waited for him in the alley. She would've checked herself but he 'insisted that he'd do it.
Dabi walked into the alley and said, "It's abandoned. But the windows and doors are boarded up. The only way we can get in is through the fire escape."
Y/N turned her focus onto the old fire escape. The railings had been bent and warped due to weathering. Rust had covered the once black metal. The whole thing was a hazard even for her.
"How long has this thing been here...?" Y/N trailed off.
Dabi climbed the old ladder on the fire escape. With each step he took, the ladder creaked. He didn't seem worried, but Y/N was. She could feel her heart beating against her chest. Her palms were sweaty as she readied herself for danger when it came time to save him.
Dabi made it to the first level safely. He quickly climbed the stairs leading to a boarded window. He used his quirk to destroy the board blocking the window.
"You coming or what?" Dabi called down to Y/N.
She took a deep breath before she started climbing the ladder. As she made her way up She made sure to climb quickly and carefully. Y/N sighed once she got to the first level.
"Are you going first?" Her voice was stern but she had a worried look on her face.
It surprised Dabi that she was worried. Considering this was the same woman to jump out of a skyscraper.
Dabi stepped aside with a slightly exaggerated bow, "After you, princess."
She looked at him bewilderedly before she gave him a light chuckle. Y/N had many nicknames but 'princess' was never one of them.
"Princess? Where did that come from?" Y/N crawled into the window. She waited for his turn to get in.
"You're bossy and high demanding." He quipped.
He crawled into the window. He lit a flame in his hand to see their surroundings. The interior was heavily dilapidated. Wallpaper was ripped off the wall and scattered onto the floor. Wiring within the wall was exposed along with piping. He was glad they had to spend one day there.
Dabi grabbed a piece of wood to light it for Y/N. She grabbed his wrist gently and stopped him.
She could hear things crawling around. Many things. And none of them were human. The skittering noises scared her enough to activate her quirk.
"No need. I can see with my quirk." She said quietly.
Dabi took a moment to glance at her and saw what she meant. Her eyes were a fluorescent white with catlike irises. She had night vision.
Y/N eyes scanned the room carefully until she found the source of the noises. One hand-sized roach crawled out of the wall. Its black beady eyes stared at her as if it knew her weakness. Y/N had always hated pests. It was the reason why she was such a clean freak. Once the abomination started moving, Y/N pressed her back against the wall but she bumped into the Dabi instead.
Dabi froze. It wasn't because of the roach. It was because of how close Y/N was. Dabi was still amazed that this indestructible woman was terrified of a bug. Y/N squished herself closer once the damn thing started flying.
"Ew ew ew!" She cowered.
Dabi grabbed her shoulder reassuringly, "Calm down. It's leaving the room."
