DAYS DRAGGED BY AND WITH EACH DAY LIFE SHOWED KARMA WHAT IT WAS LIKE LIVING WITHOUT PRAGA. Praga Ferrer's death took a toll on the fourteen-year-old girl more so than it did on the sixteen-year-old, nonetheless, they both ached for her death deeply. Karma had always been a sweet and forgiving girl, but this time things were different, grief manifested differently in each person, while some might become tremendously depressed others might become volatile. Anger and sadness were set apart by a delicate line just like love and hate are, one tilt could turn hate into love or sadness into anger. And that was Karma's case, her chest ached profoundly for the loss of a mother, a sister, and a friend, Praga was the foundation of her life, and now that she was gone the girl found herself free-falling into an abyss of despair.
Both teenagers stood side by side as they admired the calm ocean were somewhere underneath all that rubble buried deep in its depth was Praga's body. Gavin remained silent, failing to sense Karma's raging storm. The boy was mourning but he also felt relief and had faith for a new beginning. See, Gavin had obtained what he wanted, he killed his father and obtained his revenge but by doing so it cost Praga's life. Karma pressed her lips together, her eyes were empty and a blank expression adorns her angelic features. Her chubby cheeks were stained by tears, upon approaching the edge of the cliff she broke down in tears as if sensing Praga's presence.
Tony lingers back, giving them space to mourn.
"You know," Gavin let out a sigh, his emerald eyes stared at the blue ocean and observed how the waves crashed against each other. "I always thought Praga would have a long life. They say those who do good live good. And she was a great person, far too good for this world. I still can't believe she's gone."
Karma looked away from the pacific ocean below, she glanced into the sunset and observed the beautiful hues that were smeared across the sky. "There's this Latino belief about the weather and someone's death. That they're somewhat connected." She spoke with a dead voice.
A few strands of dark hair fell over Gavin's forehead as he tilted his head to the side to stare at Karma as she spoke. He inhales deeply, letting the salty air of Malibu's beach fill his nostrils and imprinting the scent on his memory. His hands were cursed into a tight fist, stuffed away in his black joggers in an effort to hide his trembling hands.
She continued. "When a person dies and it rains, either while it's happening or at the time of their burial, it means that the person died with regret. It wasn't quite their time yet. But if the day is sunny then it means that they fulfilled their purpose here and they died peacefully. It's supposed to bring people comfort, but as I look up at the sunny sky, I realize that her time on this earth was indeed up and it doesn't bring me any kind of comfort." She let out a shaky sigh as her face contorted into one of grief, big fat tears rolled down her cheeks, she used the back of her hand to brush them off. " I can't live without her... I don't want to. I still need her."
