"How do I look?" I excitedly ask my family, holding my arms out to my sides with the brightest smile on my face.
Everyone goes silent, just taking in my outfit.
"YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL BABY!" I hear from the other side of Layla's phone.
I giggle, walking over to her and taking it, flipping around the camera so I can see my parents who are on FaceTime.
"Hi guys!" I greet, pouting when I see my father with tears in his eyes. "Thank you so much for the dress by the way!"
"You're welcome! Now hurry and go, you need to take lots of pictures before you leave." My mother rushes me and I laugh, nodding.
"Let's get your little boyfriend in here. Where that man at?" One of my aunties frowns, looking around.
"He's getting drilled by Trey and them about what rappers he knows. He mentioned something about making sure Athena ain't end up with no bum." My little cousin shrugs, walking out the room.
"Damn it Trey! You dumb-"
"I'll get him." I chuckle, cutting off the cussing before it can start.
I waddle through the house and start to hear voices in the dining room. Pushing the door open I see the boys interrogating Kei.
My eyes widen but then burst out laughing when I see how serious they look.
"Hey! This is a private sessio- oh."
"Sorry to bother. But I need my date." I smile softly, shifting my eyes over to Kei who is looking at me in shock.
"Th-That's what you're wearing...?" He asks, standing up.
I nod, enjoying the slightly dazed look he has on his face as he walks towards me. He looks damn good too. The suit fits him perfectly and I can't take my eyes off of him.
"GIRL GETCHO ASS BACK IN HERE SO WE CAN TAKE PICTURES!" I hear my auntie yell, pulling me away from my thoughts.
Kei laughs as I blush and together we walk to the living room to take pictures together. Once we're finished, I get a phone call.
Hannah and I have been texting each other a lot ever since Disneyland, and she invited both me and Kei to ride in the limo her father rented for her and her friends to prom.
Of course I agreed because...hello? Free limo ride?
She tells me that she's here and asks if we can take pictures outside my house and so that's how we all end up moving outside and spending another half an hour taking pictures.
"You know, I thought perhaps you were overdressed." Kei says quietly as we wave goodbye to my family and enter the limo. "But seeing everyone else's dresses makes me realize that Americans are just very...extra." He laughs.
"It's the one night where we can act like we're princesses." I settle into my seat, smiling. "I really like Hannah's dress!"
