Chapter 23 - Malekith

I felt empty as I walk behind Thor and Jane into cave as a storm approaches.

"He's gonna unleash it, not just on Asgard or on a star, Malekith is gonna destroy everything." Jane says.

"How? Jane, how?"

"I saw him on Earth. Why would he go to Earth?" Jane asks.

Thor looks at me. "The Convergence."

"Oh, God. None of this would have happened if I hadn't found the Aether."

"Then Malekith would have only possessed it that much sooner." I speak up.

"I only found it because I was looking for you. For both of you." She looks at us.

"Jane." He places his hand on her face.

"Now we're trapped here." She says. Suddenly we hear music playing, we all look at each other in confusion.

"It's not us." Thor says.

She pulls out her phone, "Hello? Richard?! Where are you? Oh, my God! This is amazing."

She pushes a button and we hear a mans voice, "Is it? I quite enjoyed our lunch despite never actually ordering anything."

"How am I getting service here?"

"Is this a bad time? Do you want me to try you there?" The man asks.

"No, no, no, no! Please, whatever you do, do not hang up the phone." We walk farther down the cave.

"Okay then. I was just wondering if you want to try again? Uh...maybe dinner next time."

"Uh...yeah, yeah, yeah. Um...just stay on the phone, okay?" She asks.

"Yeah, I will."

Jane looks down and notices a can and keys. "Oh, my God." Jane picks up the keys.

"Am I interrupting something."

"No, no, no, nothing at all." She turns to us, "Come on."

"I'm losing you there, are you in a tunnel?"

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"Hello?"

As we start walking further into the cave, Thor and I notice discarded shoes. "Why are there so many shoes in here?" Thor asks.

Suddenly we walk right into an abandoned factory....on earth. Jan smiles and runs outside to a car. We get inside and she drives off.

She takes us to her home, I smile as I see Darcy, "Jane!"

"Hey."

"You can't just leave like that, the whole world is going crazy!"Darcy yells. Thor hangs his hammer on the coat hanger next to the door. "All the stuff we saw is spreading." She looks at Jane's Asgardian clothes and disheveled state. "Did you go to a party?"

"Erik?!" Jane asks.

"Jane, how wonderful!" He rises and goes to Jane and as he embraces her we see he isn't wearing any pants. "You've been to Asgard."

"Where are your pants?" Jane asks.

"Oh, uh...he uh...he says it helps him think." A man says.

"Okay. Well, I'm gonna need everything you got on this. All the work you've been doing on gravimetric anomalies, everything." Jane nods.

"Okay." Erik nods.

"Are you well, Erik?" Thor smiles,

Erik chuckles then his smile fades quickly, "Your brother is not coming, is he?"
