Five......Years......Later......
I had spent the rest of my pregnancy at the compound....and after nine months I gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Adari Lokison....or Ari for short.
Ari is now five and he looks exactly like his father....just like the little boy from my dream a long time ago.
It was my future....but this was different. Ari is very smart for his age, he loves to be around Steve and Nat, especially his uncle Thor.
But I had packed everything up and left Thor...I didn't want Ari surrounded by Thor's drinking. So we moved to New York...got our own little house. Perfect for the two of us. He's already shown his abilities in magic like his father...I also think he has other abilities....with water. I can't explain it and I don't know where he gets it from but it's amazing. It could be from my parents...but I don't really know them.
"Ari! Baby it's time to eat!" I put his plate down. "Your favorite, pasta!" I turn as he runs in, sliding into his seat. "Did you finish your school work?"
"Yes mama." He smiles as he eats his food, I had decided to homeschool him...it was safe that way.
"Good job, honey." I smile, sitting next to him. I turn as the doorbell rings.
"Who's that, mama?" He looks up.
I smile and run my hand through his raven hair. "Stay here."
My smile fades as I see Steve and Nat. I knew they weren't just visiting....their faces showed it. "Y/N." Steve smiles, it's been awhile since we've seen each other.
"Uh..come in....come in." I move aside.
Nat hugs me, she smiles and walks over to Ari. "You look great
Y/N." Steve hugs me.
"You too, Steve." I smile. I watch as Steve hugs Ari, he smiles and kisses his head. "Ari, come with me." I hold my hand out. He grabs it and follows me to our "classroom" I sit him down at his desk and kneel down. "Could you please work on a couple more worksheets while mama talks with auntie Nat and uncle Steve."
"Yes mama. After can I color?" He smiles.
"Of course." I kiss his head, walking back and grabbing my phone.
I sit down in the chair across from Steve and Nat, setting my phone up so I can see Ari.
They go on about a time travel plan....about bringing people back.
"No."
"No?" Nat asks.
"I can't. I'm a mother now." I shake my head.
"Y/N, we understand...but we can bring everyone back. Have a second chance." Steve nods.
"I'm sorry....I can't." I stand and wipe my stray tears. "I have my little boy to think about." I head over to the door and open it, "I-I'm sorry but...I-I can't. I'm done with the hero stuff."
Nat hugs me, "We understand Y/N....don't be sorry." She kisses my cheek.
"It's okay." Steve hugs me. "It was nice to see you."
That night after tucking Ari in for bed, I sit to myself and think about all that's happened....about the snap.
Could I really sit here and not help?
————————————————————————-
After lots of tears and frustrations, I decided to go help.
I set up Ari with a really close friend of mine, I trusted her with my life.
Walking back into the compound felt weird...it's been a couple years since I've been here.
"Y/N? You came." Steve smiles as I walk into the small meeting room.
"I couldn't just sit there and not help...you guys were right." I nod.
"Hey, pretty one." Tony stands and hugs me. "How's Ari? Morgan misses him."
"He's good...he misses Morgan as well." I nod.
"Well...look who it is." Thor stands, hugging me. "Haven't seen you since you took my nephew away from me."
I slightly gag at the smell of strong alcohol. "You drink everyday....your loud and have become a terrible influence on Ari. So of course we left." I roll my eyes. I walk around and hug Clint from behind. "Hey Buddy." I smile, sitting down and waving at Scott, Rhodey, Rocket, and Nebula.
Thor goes in front of us and stands next to the screens that show the stones. "The Aether, first, is not a stone, someone called it a stone before. It's more of a... an angry sludge thing, so... someones gonna need to amend that. Here's an interesting story though, many years ago... My grandfather had to hide the stones from the Dark Elves..."'He wiggles his fingers to imitate a spooky ghost. "Wooooh, scary beings. So Jane," An image of Jane Foster pops up on the screen. "Oh, there she is. That's Jane... She's... an old flame of mine... She... she stuck her hand inside a rock this one time... and then the Aether stuck itself inside her... And, she became very, very sick. So I had to take her to Asgard, which is where I'm from. And we had to try and fix her. We were dating at the time, you see. I got to introduce her to my Mother... who's dead." Thor starts to look broken, and seems on the verge of tears. "And oh you know, Jane and I aren't even dating anymore, these things happen though you know, nothing last forever. "Tony starts to push him back to his chair. "I'm not done yet, the only thing permanent in life is impermanence."
"Awesome. Eggs? Breakfast?" Tony asks.
"I'd like a Bloody Mary, thank you." Thor smiles.
After awhile of brainstorming, I had ordered food for the team. "Quill said he stole the Power Stone from Morag." Rocket nods, standing on the table.
"Is that a person?" Scott asks, noodles hang firm his mouth.
"Morag's a planet. Quill was a person." I nod.
"A planet? Like in outer space?" Scott's eyes light up.
"Oh, look. It's like a little puppy, all happy and everything. Do you wanna go to space? You wanna go to space, puppy? I'll get you to space."
The entire time Thor stares at me with a mixture of sadness and anger.
He knew I was right.
