He had waited for this day for so long. You were in a cream colored dress, looking beautiful as you sat across from him, cross-legged on the floor. Your fingers drummed nervously on your kneecaps and you desperately tried not to gnaw on your glossy lips as you stared straight ahead at your husband.
He had married you only an hour ago, in a small, gorgeous temple on a tiny moon in the Outer Rim. As soon as the ceremony was over, the two of you walked hand-in-hand to the Razor Crest, where he would take the biggest step of his life. But even as he stared at the most beautiful sight he had ever seen in all his years, he couldn't find the strength to take the leap.
The silence was dragging on forever, deafening him completely. He could hear static in his mind, buzzing with anxiety as he thought more and more about removing his helmet in front of someone. Of removing his helmet in front of you, as loving as you are, and taking the risk of you not liking what you see. Taking the risk of revealing himself completely after he had grown so comfortable hiding away.
