In a field of yellow-green grass and buds of violet, you sat. The breeze was sweet and warm; the sunlight offering a golden glow to your skin. And Finn was beside you, staring out at the hills in the distance, listening to the sounds of the strange creatures chirping in the trees behind you.
"I think this is the prettiest planet we've been to yet," you said. A smile was etched permanently on your face. Finn nodded, but he didn't say anything. He didn't want to ruin the mood, you guessed. "I'm really glad you dragged me into this whole 'We've wasted our whole lives unwillingly because of the First Order, so we should see all that we can now' idea."
"Yeah," he breathed. His eyes blinked as he looked away from the spring-green hills and back at you. Your eyes locked on his eyelashes. "I'm glad you decided to come with me."
"Of course. They stole away enough of our lives," you said. You thought of the heavy armor you were raised in, the ways of violence and cruelty and order. You thought of the family you were stolen from, one that you couldn't even remember the faces of. Only sounds of their screams as you were torn from them forever. "And now I finally get to see what all they kept from me."
"We don't have to think about them anymore." His hand found yours. He'd been doing that a lot lately; taking your hand.
"You're right," you said. You sighed happily and shut your eyes as your head found the dip of his shoulder where you could rest and fit perfectly. His arm went around you.
"I can't believe it's all over," he said. He watched a winged insect land on a bloom a foot away. He stared at the orange of the wings, the glittering blue of the tips. "We don't have to be afraid anymore. We don't have to fight anymore."
"No." You smiled. "We can rest now."
As if it just hit him that he could rest now, that he could move on from the years of terror and resistance and fighting, he looked at you. You were right. The war was really over. And now there was just this --- this sweet period of grace where everyone collectively decides that past habits should be avoided so that there won't be anymore fighting. He had made it. You had made it. And now there was only this to look forward to. Days of sunlight and warm grass and sweet-smelling flowers and the sounds of beautiful creatures and being with you.
"Yeah." He inhaled gently, slowly, and he exhaled. "Yeah, you're right." The wind blew softly. And he pulled you closer to his side. "We can rest now."
