Chapter 57: The Guilty and The Dead

Belladonna Manor, Menagerie, 7:00 pm

Blake was outside on a balcony, looking into the night sky taking in the moment, as a break from a long day. Suddenly, she heard something gently tap on the wooden railing. Blake turned around to see a small note and unfolded it. It read "B. Things going too far. Not sure what to do. Find a quiet spot, I'll find you. Come alone. Please." signed "I".  Blake looked around and placed the note in her coat, just as Sun walked in. 

Sun: We going recruiting or what? Can't let Aveline cover the entire nocturnal section.

Blake didn't respond.

Sun: You okay?

Blake: Yeah, I'll meet you there. I need to take care of something first.

Blake walked away, leaving a confused Sun, who could swear he heard a quiet rustling in the bushes.

Heaven Academy guest house, City of Mistral

Despite being a guest, Weiss felt she needed to do something, so she washed all the dishes as the others went to sleep. Weiss was on her way as well, until she saw Arno standing outside on the balcony looking into the stars.

Weiss: It's a nice night.

Arno turned around to see who interrupted his train of thought.

Arno: Yeah...

Weiss: Are you alright? You barley spoke to anyone.

Arno: Well you are the only person I know here. Even that Connor girl is more familiar with the group than I am.

Weiss: Don't worry, they'll get used to you. I know I did.

She gave Arno a gentle smile.

Arno: I... don't think I said sorry for what I told you back on the airship.

Weiss: You don't have to say sorry. I know something happened to you in Atlas, something that changed you. I don't know what, but... I know it's not easy to talk about.

Arno: It is hard to talk about it. But I could show you.

Arno extended his hand to Weiss, as it started to glow just like last time. Weiss looked at Arno uncertain.

Arno: No more secrets. I won't hide anything from you.

Hesitantly, Weiss touched Arno's hand, as she found herself in a familiar room with paintings, but this time, the once secret door was wide open, and the paintings inside fully revealed. Weiss passed the the painting withe Arno and the red haired girl, Elise, a memory she already saw, and moved on to a painting right next to it. It showed Arno and Elise arrive at an abounded dust factory down in the outskirts of Mantle. Weiss touched the painting, as she found herself right in front of the factory behind Arno and Elise.

Arno: Are you sure this is the place?

Elise: That is what the supplier said. This is the drop off point of the poison used on your council. I don't know why they would need more though.

Arno: ... Maybe they wanted to be found. Watch the door, I'll check the inside from the roof.

Elise nodded, as with a sudden flash Weiss was now on top of the roof. She saw Arno who just climbed up onto the roof and was looking through the window into the factory. Weiss followed his gaze, but the saw nothing inside other than old machinery and crates with the Schnee Dust Company logo.

???: Took you long enough pisspot.

Arno and Weiss turned around to see Arno's mentor, Pierre Bellec.
