Chapter 65: Familiar Faces

Lower levels of Mistral, 2 am

Cinder was following a trail of blood from her prey. It led her to an alleyway. The Assassins were cornered, that was for certain. The Blood ended behind a couple of boxes and behind them... nothing. The trail ended there.

Suddenly, with his hidden blade out, the wounded Assassin jumped down from the roof behind Cinder, but somehow, she was ready. She grabbed the Assassin by their arm and swung them to the ground, before using her semblance and melting the hidden blade. The Assassin screamed in pain, as the hot steel went down his arm. Cinder let go of it and looked down on her target with a mocking smile.

Assassin: How? How did you know?!

Cinder: Let's just say I have experience with your kind. Actually I don't remember the last time I had this much fun killing an Assassin.

Assassin: You're a monster.

Cinder: So I'm told.

Cinder formed a hidden blade of her own, and quickly finished off the Assassin. Even she had to admit, using it was very satisfying.

As life left the Assassin's eyes, Cinder turned to inform Charlotte her mission was a success, but it seems she was beaten to it. Kaa and three more of Charlotte's goons stood at the end of the alleyway.

Kaa: I'm impressed. You actually managed to catch him.

Cinder: I completed my end of the deal. Tell your boss she has to pay up.

Kaa: That's what I'm here for. The silver eyed girl was seen leaving Mistral two days ago. I believe she got on the train to Argus. Unless she has family there, she will probably try to go to Atlas.

Cinder: Then I'll best be on my way.

Kaa and her goons took out their weapons.

Kaa: I don't think so. See, there is a large bounty to simply confirm your death. With you alive, well, we can imagine what kind of bargain we can strike.

Cinder: Do you honestly think you can even-

Suddenly, Kaa's eyes started to change into a pair of colourful spirals. Cinder felt no choice but to stare at them, as her muscles relaxed.

Kaa: Neat trick right? As long as I can focus on you, you can't break through my hypnosis. Best part? You will still remember everything. Alright people, tie her up and-

This time it was Kaa's time to be surprised, as one of her goons used their club to trip another goon, before stepping on their neck and crushing their windpipe. Before the third could react, the rouge goon thrusted her club at their stomach. In that time, the illusion disappeared, and Neo revealed herself with her umbrella. She quickly finished her opponent with a strong bash to the head. Kaa took out her rope dart, or rather a rusty knife with a plain rope attached to it.

Kaa: I don't who you are, but it's gonna take more than that to-

Without wasting any time, Neo kicked Kaa directly in the face, with her high heel piercing the skin just below one of Kaa's eyes.

Kaa: AAAH! You bitch!

Before Kaa could even realize she lost focus, something pierced her through the back. She looked down to see that four Grimm claws had pierced her chest. With fear in her eyes, Kaa looked back to see Cinder had a Grimm arm.

Kaa: W-what... What the fu-?!

Cinder pulled Kaa in, and used the hidden blade she already created to pierce Kaa's eye, going deep enough to hit her brain. The fight was over as quickly as it started.
