Chapter 27: On With the Show

Amity Colosseum, 14:20

Port (from speaker): Begin!

(Battle Music)

Jaune: Come on guys!

Team JNPR began their charge, but only three members of team BRNZ did the same, as the fourth member (May Zedong) turned around and headed to the forest. Meanwhile, Pyrrha engaged in combat with the team leader (Brawnz) who tried to land the first hit on Pyrrha, but she blocked with her shield and slashed her sword forward, making Brawnz jump back. Nora and Ren went for another opponent (Nolan) with Nora swinging her hammer at him, but Nolan ducked and tried to make a counter attack with no use. Ren tried to join in, but May made it to a top of a tree and opened fire on Ren, forcing him to stay in contestant movement. Meanwhile, Jaune was fighting with the last member of team BRNZ (Roy), blocking his strike and pushing him back, giving himself enough time to realise his entire team is open to May's long range attacks.

Jaune: Retreat!

Team JNPR retreated, with Jaune and Pyrrha covering Ren and Nora with their shields until they made it behind the rocks. 

Pyrrha:  What do we do?

Jaune: Spread out! Try to keep moving!

As he said that, Brawnz tried to strike Jaune down, thankfully he was able to block in time. Meanwhile, Pyrrha focused on Roy and Ren on Nolan, who nodded back where May was. Suddenly, two shots were fired near Ren's feet, forcing him to dodge while giving Nolan the opportunity to successfully strike his opponent twice, once in the head and the other in the leg. Ren tried to make a counterstrike by spinning on one leg and and land a kick with the other, but Nolan ducked and zapped Ren in the chest with his stun baton, knocking him down.

Nora: Ren!

She took a swing at Nolan who promptly dodged it and zapped Nora in the chest, but she was still standing with a smile bigger than ever.

Port (from speaker): Oh-ho! Looks like one of my favourite students, Nora Valkyrie, is charging up to use her semblance!

Nolan: What?

Oobleck (from speaker): Yes, Ms. Valkyrie's Semblance lets her produce, as well as channel, electrical energy straight to her muscles! This allows her to jump explosively into the air, wield her mighty hammer, or in this case, absorb Nolan's attacks and send the young man flying!

Nolan: What?!

He quickly took away his weapon, but it was too late, Nora was fully charged and with a single charge, sent Nolan flying back and crashing a rock on the way. Meanwhile, Jaune spotted a storm cloud forming over the mountain behind him.

Jaune: Nora! Get to the mountain!

Nora: You got it!

Jaune:  Ren! Try and distract the sniper!

As he said that, a sniper shot almost hit Ren's head.

Ren: Sure... Why not.

As Nora started climbing up the mountain, Jaune was able to block Roy's attack with saws, while still hitting Jaune's shield hard enough to daze him for a few seconds. Pyrrha joined in and by the time she blocked Roy's series of strike, Jaune pulled himself back together and rejoined the fight. 

Ruby: Yeah! Go get 'em, Jaune!

Evie: Well, he's certainly improved.

Yang: Yeah, but he ain't got nothing on Pyrrha!
