Chapter 37: The Dragon and the Maiden

Beacon Landing pads, 11:00 pm

The evacuation zone was filled wih people, but they were calmer then before. Shay, with the help of the Crusaders, the Phoenix Wing and even Professor Port and Doctro Oobleck who made it out of the Colosseum alive. The two were helping to organise the students, while Shay could take care of ordering his man around.

Port: That's it! Everybody on board! This is a mandatory evacuation!

Oobleck:  A safe zone has been established in Vale!  Please, remain calm and listen to Atlas personnel!

Meanwhile, Ruby finally made it to the evacuation zone and saw Weiss starring at something. 

Ruby: Weiss! Oh, I found you!

Weiss: Ruby, where have you-

Ruby: Don't worry, I'm fine! What's going on?

Weiss lowered her gaze.

Ruby: Weiss? What is it?

Weiss moved out of Ruby's way to reveal unconscious Yang with her arm missing, a bloody bandage wrapped around the wound. Blake was sitting next to her, she had a bandage around her waist, she was holding it to make her injury less painful, there were tears in her eyes.

Blake:  I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Aveline kneeled next to her and hugged her, trying to comfort her.

Aveline: Shh, it's okay. She's going to be okay.

Ruby: Yang.

Shay: Ruby!

He ran up to Ruby and gave a quick hug, then stepped back to give her some space.

Shay: I'm so glad you're okay!

Ruby: Dad... is Yang...

Shay: She's okay. Some savage with a sword got her, but the doctor said she'll make it. You're... friend wasn't as lucky though.

He looked over to one of the airships. Ruby followed his gaze to see Jacob kneeling over his sister's body. Evie's blank stare was looking into the night sky, as her brother took something out of her eyes that looked like contact lenses, right before forcing Evie's eyes shut. Two para medics covered Evie with a cloth, before taking her away on a stretcher. When they were out of sight, Jacob stood up and looked down at Evie's cane he held in his hand. For a minute, Ruby could swear she saw Jacob shed a tear.

Shay: ... There's a ship ready to take you all to Vale.

Nora: But Jaune and Pyrrha are still missing!

Ruby: What?!

Shay: Don't worry, we'll send someone to find them the second we have the situation under control here.

Jacob: I knew it! You Templars are all talk in the end aren't you? Making promises you can't keep!

Shay: Are you expecting me to abandon all these people? Do you wish to let them die Assassin?!

Jacob: You have troops, you have us! You could send anyone right now and save our friends, but your more worried about keeping your civilised image, or do you want to leave them behind knowing one of ours is with them?!

Adewale: Novice! Stand. Down.

Jacob: Why should I?! What have the Templars done of us other then let us die in their fights?!

Aveline: Jacob that's enough!

Ruby: Wait... you're a Templar?

Shay turned around, as Aveline had to hold Jacob back from starting a fight.
