Cato stared at the screen in horror it cut out as soon as Thread pointed his gun at Ruth who was holding Roy up the best she could. I ran to my house to warn mom and the girls before Sage ran to tell Ben and their mom. "It's Roy he's hurt." I said crying for my best friend. "Get him in here." mom shouted to Mox, Hibis, Quinn and a district person. Jenny, Emilie, and Juniper cleaned the table as the other four carried him in and put him on his belly on the table. "He met a Peacekeeper, who's not entirely peaceful." Mox said about Roy. Sage examined my face wound after she came back with Ben and Rosemary. "Missed your eye won't need stitches." Sage said sadly as she looked at my eye. "We need a snow coat." Our mother shouted at someone as Sage looked around. "Quinn get the snow; I'll get my herbs." Sage said about the snow and herbs. Our mother started to pour alcohol on his back-causing me to shout. "What's that it's hurting him?" I shout at her about Roy's back. Mom was somewhat shocked by my yell about the alcohol. "He needs morphine." I said about morphine. But mom ignoring my question. She put the bottle down and went to get it.

Joan took the time to sniff the bottle then pour some into her cup. I grabbed it off her but she started to drink it. My mom got the injection ready, but she was shaking lots. "Mum, no I'll do it." Sage walked over to Jenny, Emilie, Juniper and I. "Hold him please." Sage asked us as we did and he screamed as Sage put it in. "That's better." She said about Roy as he went silent. Later, after his wounds had been treated, I sat next to him and leant over to kiss him then his eyes opened. "Hey Rush." Roy said to me weakly. "Hey." I said sadly still holding his hand in mine. "I'd thought you would be gone by now." Roy said about me leaving him. "I'm not going anywhere, gonna stay here." I said to him smiling an actual smile. "Me too." Roy said laughing softly as I kissed his hand.

In the morning, Quinn and Mox came over to find Ruth fast asleep next to Roy. "Hey." Mox said to me as I woke up and smiled sleepily at him. "Go get some rest we'll look after him." Mox said softly I nodded and checked his wounds. "I'll just go and get some more snow." I said about the snow outside. "Okay, Cato's been ringing continuously wanting to make sure your safe." Quinn said about Cato who is sounding worried. "Yeah I spoke to him at one point but he's worried so won't stop." I said as I went, put my boots on then grabbed a bowl and went outside. I gathered snow until I heard a front door close. I looked up to see Sage walk over and kneel next to me. "Hey." I said not wanting to talk about yesterday. "How's your eye?" Sage asked me about my eye. "It's not my eye that's bothering me. How can we live like this? How can anybody live like this?" I said beginning to collect more snow. "It's not living, but...since the last games something is different. I can see it." Sage said about the 74th hunger games I had volunteered in with Roy.

"What can you see?" I asked her as I wanting to know. "Hope." Sage said of hope and I looked at her in confusion. "You understand that whatever I do comes back to you, the girls and mum. I don't want you to get hurt." I said to Sage about what I do in the Capitol. "You don't have to protect me, or mum especially not the rest and we're with you." Sage said staring at me. I looked back then we hugged each other, and I never wanted to let go. "I love you Sage." I said to her and I felt her smile. "Love you too, Rut." Sage said muffled by my jacket. We got the snow, went back inside, mixed the snow with herbs then puts it on Roy's back together as he groan and he held on my pants as a comfort to both him and I before I myself head to bed to sleep. I woke up around midnight and went downstairs to see Roy on the table with no one there. So I got two cups of water with one having a straw in it before going to Roy as I sat down I hear a groan from Roy. "Hey Rut," Roy said getting some of his strength back. "Hey Roy, how are you doing with your wounds so far?" I asked him about his wounds. "Better now that you're here." He said about it. "I got you some water because I didn't really know if you wanted anything else." I said about the cups have in my hands. "That's great, I've been feeling a little parched." Roy said trying to make a small pun out of it. "That was horrible and just drink the water Roy." I said laughing at his pun. "At least it made you laugh." Roy said as he winced when he tried to laugh himself. "Don't laugh to much Roy. You're still hurt from the whippings two days ago." I said about the whipping he and I had.
