I met another boy yesterday, he was nice and he was a greaser. It makes me wonder which Cherry and the rest of the socs hate them so much. They are people just like us. He helped me get a new bike light and even helped me bandage up my hand. That was a fun one to explain to Mother. His name was Sodapop can you believe that. I do hope I see him again. School starts in a few weeks, I've got plenty of time to explore town on my bike until then. I am hoping to meet up with Cherry again today, she gave me her address and number and said to come over anytime. I do hope she continues her generous friendship, heaven knows I need as many friends as I can get. So I shall write again soon.

Love,
Christine Landon

Trying to burn time until meeting up with Cherry I decide to unpack some more of the boxes in my room. I know that Mother would be happy with this choice because she has been constantly insisting that I get the job done. Aunt Kathy is also here today helping Mother unpack more boxes.

To my delight, I find the box with my record player. Unlike Mother, I did not organize and label all of my boxes so each one is like a surprise gift. I can't say that I know where any of my vinyls are but for now, this will have to do.

After a few hours of progress, I decide that I probably should make my way over to Cherry's house. I decide to give her a call before biking over.

"Hey Cherry, it's Christine," I announce.

"Oh hey Christine, you coming over anytime soon?" Cherry asks.

"Yeah, I was just about to bike over. I wanted to make sure that it was still alright,"

"Of course. Hey, Marcia and I are actually going on a double date tonight with our boyfriends tonight. Why not come over a little later and you can keep up your promise from last night. I am sure David would love to tag along with a beautiful date such as yourself,"

"Oh, a date with David..."

"Why not, he is a good-looking guy. I've known him my whole life and I feel as though you two would hit it off,"

"I don't know Cherry..." I reply not interested in a relationship with that man at all.

"Come on, we were going to hang out today anyhow. Why not wait a few hours longer for this, it would make my day,"

"I just don't know if David is my type Cherry," I hesitate once more.

"Come on Christine you promised. Do it for me. Please?" She asks using a whiny voice that I am sure works on her victim every time. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to do this for Cherry, maybe this could solidify our friendship?

"Fine," I reluctantly answer, "What time should I be over?"

"Be here at 6:00, we can get ready together then. Golly, I am so excited now Christine, you have just made my day. To celebrate why don't we have a sleepover after," Cherry chuckles into the telephone.

"Yeah sure," I simply reply, "I will see you in a few hours then. Bye Cherry," I reply before hanging up the phone.

A few hours have passed and I am scheduled to be at Cherry's in 15 minutes. I finish up unpacking the box I have been working on and smile when I realize that it was filled with some of my vinyl records. My favorite one is by The Beatles.

Before I know it I am already running late to Cherry's, all I have time to do is quickly check up on my outfit. I decide that my current green top along with my jean jacket and matching shorts should work fine enough. It's not like I want David to drool over me. From there I quickly pack my purse with the same goods from the other night and head downstairs.
