So Alexei found Mac but, she would have come to sort out her Uncle John once she heard about it. Will she go back to Alexei or not? If not, will he let her go?
Mac was fuming. "How dare those thieves go after Alexei?" She wanted to scream in frustration. She had left him vulnerable to their crimes. What if they had hurt him in any way. She kept pacing until AJ told her to sit down. He said she was making his head spin. Unexpected yet hopefully expected events, had kept her mind in a bubble, otherwise she would have gone after her uncle already. Not wanting to bump into Alexei and his wife, especially now, had prevented her from following up on her money. Her fears had kept her away and had almost resulted in disaster. Given the time that had passed, she had assumed that they were already married. Add to that, the fact that the agreed payment had been made into her bank account, had confirmed it. That was around the time, when she had found out about the events that now consumed her. She hadn't touched the money yet. Needing to do something so that she didn't stress, she told AJ to help her bake cup cakes. He left his game in a such a hurry, at the mention of cup cakes, that he tripped on the carpet and fell on his butt. Mumbling that he was okay, at Mac's cry of concern, he rubbed his butt and slightly limped into the kitchen. Shaking her head at the fright he gave her, she followed him. Soon they were elbow deep in batter, singing and having fun.
The doorbell rang and AJ raced to answer it. Mac stood still as she wondered who it was. Nobody knew they were here. She shouted for AJ but it was too late. She heard Jenny's voice then silence. Worried, she came out of the kitchen and found the door closed. Wondering what was going on, she walked further into the lounge. The man standing there, was one she was very familiar with. He looked stressed. Older. His hair was in disarray as if he had been continuosly running his fingers through it. She just stared at him. He was here for a reason so, he could do the talking. She had people to protect so she needed to toughen up a bit more.
Feeling weak in the knees, she went to take a seat, while motioning him to take one. He sat opposite her and looked at his feet. He then looked up again and blew air out of his mouth. "You won't make this easy for me, right? Anyway, I thought so. You look beautiful. More than before. I just....I don't.......Please forgive me. Please! I never meant to hurt you that day. I felt guilty when I saw Melissa and I also thought to take her attention away from from you, because she had started to question me, every time, she found us alone with each other. From the time we met again, I never touched Melissa except for less than a handful of kisses. I always felt guilty." He ran his hands through his hair again and stood up. He came to kneel in front of her. He stared at her, making eye contact for a few minutes. "God, you're stubborn! I felt responsible for Melissa. I found her in bed next to me and she claimed I had taken her virginity. I was drunk and couldn't remember anything. I only had my boxers on. I believed her and I tried avoiding her after that but, she was always around. Making herself visible. Trying to make friends with Jenny. I drank often, those days. In a moment of weakness when I was missing you but hating you so much, I agreed to go out with her. One date led to another and she was so sweet and considerate of me that I made myself fall for her. I convinced myself that she would love me, never cheat on me and would stay with me."
Stopping to look at her, he saw that she was listening but showed no emotions. "After a long time, my body was aching for you, so much. My heart ached too. I gave in and initiated intimacy. I remember kissing her and that's it. I woke up, again with only my boxers and no memories of sex. It happened a few times again but every time, was because of you and what I was feeling and how much, I was missing you. When we made love, I began to have doubts about intimacy with Melissa. Especially when I saw the blood you shed the first time. Every time after as well because I could recall every second of our love making but nothing about Melissa and I. I had suspicions at the back of my mind but didn't want to believe it and I thought I loved her. She cried that first time, when I was drunk. When I woke up that morning, she was next to me, crying. I felt very guilty. I thought I had hurt her. Mac, I love you! Be with me. Please. If you don't want me, I'll cope. I'll wait for you, forever if I have to. Please, just come back with me, so I can see that you're safe." He stopped his pacing to kneel in front of her again. "I love you Mac. I never stopped loving you. I felt angry and betrayed but my heart always beat for you. Give me a chance to make it up to you. Please!"
