Officer Aaron was in agony. He was hard all the time. It wasn't just lust. He wanted all of her. Every single part of her. He couldn't take anymore of not seeing her, every day. He had to try . He loved the way, she protected her friend, Megan and he wasn't stupid, he knew she was the one to paint bomb the old bat. He just loved how fiesty and strong she was. He imagined her in his car, his house, his bed. He hadn't felt this way about a girl before. Don't get me wrong. He liked girls. Growing up in an orphanage, made a person cautious.

Making up his mind, it being his off day, he decided to go see her. Once he was ready, he looked in the mirror and decided that he looked good in black straight leg jeans, a white collar short and white converse shoes. Driving up to her building, he saw the guy from last night exiting the building with a blonde girl and an older man and woman.

He didn't like him. He felt that he was competition for Mac. He saw how jealous the guy got when he had his arms around Mac. If looks could kill, then Aaron would be dead. By the time Aaron pulled to a stop, next to the guys car, the guy had noticed Aaron. He came towards him as Aaron parked next to a fancy, black jeep. Aaron realized that he had parked next to this guy. He wondered who he was to Mac.

Alexei noticed the Officer as soon as he left Mac's building. Immediately he felt such rage. "What was the guy doing here?" Walking towards his jeep, he saw the Officer, park his car, next to him. Seeing Melissa and her parents inside the vehicle, he waited for the Officer to step out. "Is there a problem Officer? Why are you here? Wasn't the issue resolved already?"

Aaron looked at him for a moment before he answered,"Hello! I'm not here on police business. It's personal." Alexei got even more hot under the collar at this response. It wasn't unexpected. It still made him angry. He couldn't figure out why though. He wanted to go back to Mac's apartment and claim her as...What! What was he saying. He had Melissa. Forcing himself to do it, he wished the Officer a good day and got into the jeep. His knuckles clenched around the steering as he watched the Officer enter the building. He didn't hear Melissa ask him if everything was alright. He didn't see the curious looks his future in laws gave him, nor the looks they gave each other. Alexei was oblivious to everything except his thoughts.

Mac was busy washing and removing all signs of devastation from her face, when she heard the knock on the door. Praying, that this wasn't them again, as she couldn't take any more today, she went to open the door. She was totally surprised to see Officer Aaron at her door. Looking at his attire, she could see, that this was not an official visit. "Sharkboy! Okay then! What can I help you with?" Aaron was stunned at how beautiful she looked. Her face had a freshly scrubbed look to it. Her cheeks were slightly rosy. Her eyes were a light red as if she had just been crying but this didn't detract from her looks. Then she did something that totally floored the poor guy. Made him weak at the knees. Mac smiled at him. An honest genuine smile. Aaron couldn't breathe for a moment. He forgot his name as well it seems because it took a while for him to realise that she was calling him.
"Officer James?" She was asking him if he was okay. "Who?" He told himself to get it together as he was embarrassing himself.

"Sorry, Miss....huh, can I call you Mac?" She nodded and he stumbled over his words but managed to get them out in one breath. "Well Mac you see, I want to ,....can I come in? I like you. A lot. Can I take you out for toffee perhaps? I mean coffee. You drink coffee? Or tea. Tea is good. If you want. Huh!" "Milkshake!" "Milkshake? No, my name is Aaron." Laughing, Mac said," Hmmm, I know. If you buy me a milkshake, I'll go with you. Is that okay Officer, J....he.... Milkshake?" Aaron wanted to reply, with something witty and cool but words failed him. In that moment, he fell deeper. "Yes Mac." I would love to buy you a milkshake." Where's your  brother? Maybe he would like to come with?" Mac answered that he was at football practice and would be home in two hours." After making sure that the appliances in the kitchen were switched off, Mac left with Aaron. She made sure to lock the door behind her.

Once Aaron was out the house, he relaxed. She actually agreed to go with him. He was still reeling with happiness. He felt proud to walk beside her. Deciding to walk to a diner down the street, they set off in that direction. They talked casually as they walked. A few minutes later, they discovered a few things they had in common. Like, their addiction to  milkshakes. They found it easy to converse on a number of topics. They became friends. Mac thought she had a lovely, new friend. The moment he asked about her brother, he had endeared himself to her. Aaron thought how he didnt mind being friends. He definitely wanted more but he also wanted to be her friend.

"Why did you ask me out?" asked Mac. " "I've been so rude to you. Every time we  came into contact. So why do you want to be friends with a horrible person?" "I want to be honest with you. I'm falling for you. I've never been in a relationship before. I don't trust people especially women. My mother gave me up when I was four. She abandoned me  in front of an orphanage. Since then, I've never been disappointed in my instincts to not trust people. When I met you, for the first time, I saw someone I could trust. You are honest and kind. You fight for those who can't fight for themselves. You can take on and intimidate, anyone. You even scare Hank, and pretty much nothing, scares him. You will never betray the people you love. I won't pressure you for anything more, so soon. I sense that you're not in that space right now. Just know that I want you in my life and I'm willing to wait. So, friends?" He stuck his hand in front of Mac.

Mac was reeling in shock. She hadn't expected this. Taking his hand, in hers. She agreed. She told him that she wasn't  ready for anything more than friends. Shd also told him why. He had a sort of soothing feeling about him. There was something about him. Mac couldn't explain it. She felt that she could talk to him. She felt bad that he wanted what,  she couldn't give. He was very handsome and had a personality to match. Mac prayed that Aaron would find someone who would give him the world. He deserved to be loved. She had nothing to give to anyone. Alexei's betrayal had broken her twice. She was sure of one thing though. Aaron was now a part of her life."

They talked, joked, laughed and enjoyed each other's company. Aaron's sense of humor matched hers. They didn't go into depth about it, but Aaron let her know that he was there for her, whenever she needed him. He was assured that now that he was her friend, Mac would treat him the same as her other friends. He felt very emotional about this. Noone has ever cared about him. The orphanage had been a hell he didn't want to think about. He had hope and determination to get his girl one day. He could wait. His body was the problem. Even now, sitting in the diner with others around them, he couldn't control his body's reaction to her. He predicted a lot of cold showers, in the future.

He wouldn't push her into anything. He would wait. That idiot who hurt her was getting married but wasn't out of the picture yet. Aaron knew that he was a threat. Mac didn't know it and maybe Alexei didn't realise it yet, but he was still in love with her. Aaron inwardly smirked as he issued a silent challenge. The prize was a treasure. The winner gets it all.
