"Ah, young F/N! Thank you for coming." Commander Erwin Smith said as you entered his office.
Why were you there? Maybe it was because of your outstanding performance during training. Maybe it was because of the accident the other day with the little old lady who tried to buy the last roll of bread. Or maybe it was because of your inability to work with others. Well. No matter the reason, you were in the commander's office.
The room was filled with silence, it was just you and the commander. "C'mon! just tell me the reason I'm here!" You thought to yourself as you grew impatient and begun tapping your foot while crossing your arms.
"I have been looking over your results from your time in training." Erwin informed as he neatly placed a stack of paperwork on the side of his desk. "F/N, it has been five years since you graduated the training corps and became a scout. How would you feel about a promotion?" Erwin asked as he rested his chin on his knuckles.
You looked at the commander in shock. "A... A promotion?" You asked. "A promotion for what? And to what?"
"You are quite young, so I understand if you do not want to take this opportunity yet. I want to make you a squad captain." Erwin stated with a slight smirk.
"A captain? Are you sure about that?" You asked as a look of concern washed over your face.
"I am aware of your short temper and aggressive personality. I believe that if you had a team of your own you will grow into a strong, respected leader someday." Erwin informed.
"A team leader? I mean... I guess I want this. I could get away with so much more shit. This is perfect, I can do whatever I want as a captain." You thought to yourself as you considered his offer. "Commander. I accept your offer." You said as you saluted him, determination filled your eyes.
"Very well. Good luck, captain F/N." Erwin said as he stood up and saluted you.

And just like that, two years had passed.
"I can't believe it. What a joke." You think to yourself as you sit on your horse in the rain. "Why the hell am I stationed in the Utopia district permanently? I am stuck with a bunch of stupid idiots daily because I signed that stupid paperwork to become a stupid captain. On top of that, we cannot even go out on expeditions with the rest of the scouts. What the hell was the commander thinking?" You wonder when you are pulled out of your thoughts by the sound of hooves galloping towards you.
"Hey captain F/N!" Erika, your subordinate, yells.
"What is it?" You ask as you let out a sigh.
"I heard the 104th cadet corps graduated last week. Apparently, they were killing titans when they were still in training. I hope everything is okay down there." Erika states as she rubs her horse's mane.
"Unbelievable, fresh soldiers are killing titans and going outside the walls while we are stuck here." You say as you tighten your grip on the reins. You were angry to say the least. You were a captain in the survey corps who has never been outside the walls or even seen a real titan. There were plenty of rumours about you but then again who would not be suspicious of someone who became a captain without ever being outside the walls. Who wouldn't be suspicious of someone who became a captain without any kills to their name? people thought you were a fraud, a fake. Someone who wants to climb the ranks without doing anything.
"Gather the others, go back to the house and take the rest of the day off." You order Erika as she nods and rides off. You look in the direction of the town and ride towards the stores.
