"Oi! Captain!" You yell as you race through the forest with the Levi squad. "Why the hell are we in a forest? I get that we will be able to use ODM gear more effectively but wont titans also be able to sneak up on us?"
"Stop stating the obvious and shut up L/N" Levi states in a monotone voice.
"Excuse me?!" You yell. "What the hell are we even doing here?! There's something coming for us! Most likely Eren and you just continue as if nothing is wrong?!" You yell.
"For me?.." Eren questioned silently.
"This doesn't make sense.... What are we doing here?" Oluo asks as you silently stare in his direction. You then look around at all the members of Levi's squad to see every one of them looking either concerned or scared.
"Great... Fucking great! No one knows what the fuck is going on. And on top of that. Levi doesn't even seem like he gives two shits about the current situation."
"Ah.." You say quietly as you feel the left side of your body envelop in pain.
"F/N? Are you okay?" Gunther asks.
"Yeah... I think the pain from back when that female titan threw me into the ground is starting to become apparent to me." You say. Before this, you were running on pure adrenaline, not being able to feel the pain.
Blades drawn. Now!" Levi states as you look back and see a black flare rise above the trees. "It'll happen in the blink of an eye. Be ready." He informs as the atmosphere drops dead silent.
And just as Levi had said. The titan appeared out of nowhere and killed a lone scout. "Go! Move it!" Levi yells as you all pick up the pace.
The titan charges towards you and smashes through a tree as it barely misses stomping on you. Within a matter of seconds it was back on your six.
"Captain! Engage the ODM gear?" Petra yells. "Captain!"
Out of nowhere two soldiers, the rear reinforcements, appear and peruse the titan. Seconds later they are nothing more than blood stains on the ground.
"Tell us to engage sir!" Oluo yells as the titan came nearer and nearer.
"What the hell is he thinking? Why isn't he giving us any orders?!" You think to yourself as you grip your blades tighter and slowly stand up on Stirrups.
"Captain!" Petra yells, her voice is pleading as if begging the Captain for orders.
"We need your orders sir!" Oluo reinforces loudly, making damn sure Levi can hear.
"Captain! Dammit! Tell us what to do!" You yell. Not really looking for a waiting for an answer, you stand up high on your Stirrups and intend on soloing the titan. You are about to make the jump to a tree when you see Levi sit up.
"Everyone, cover your ears. Now!" Your Captain informs as you sit back down on your horse. A few seconds later Levi is holding a flare up to the sky and shoots it.
"Agh! Damn. My ears! What the hell was that? An acoustic round?"
"Sir! Why-.." You ask but pause when you begin to put two and two together. "Acoustic shells are really only to alert people when someone is close right? Maybe he does have a plan after all. I doubt he used that to try and disorientate the titan. But who could he be signalling to? And what are we about to run into?"
"This squad's mission is to keep this brat alive." Levi informs. It doesn't take long for you to figure he meant Eren. "We keep pushing forward on horseback. Is that clear?"
"Yes Sir!" Everyone yells. Everyone but you.
"F/N. Is that clear?" Levi asks again in a dark tone. He must have noticed you standing up ready to attack the titan because he is now staring at you.
"Yeah whatever..." You mutter as he gives you a scowl. "Yes Sir!" You say a little to sarcastically. "This is so stupid. This is the goddamn Levi squad. We could have that filthy titan killed in an instant." You tune back into Eren's yelling as you see more men appear from the rear, trying to stop the titan.
"Those men need us!" Eren yells.
"Eren! Shut up! We have our orders! Now unless you want a thorough beating when we get back, I suggest you follow them." You say as you grow angry from the constant yelling and pressure of the situation. Your words, obviously, don't get through to Eren as the next few moments are filled with constant yelling. You snap back into focus when you hear Petra yelling at Eren.
"You swore and oath!" Petra yells. "Eren!"
After a very... Motivational speech from Levi, Eren calms down at says he puts his faith in the squad. You however are not convinced. The female titan changes is running style in a way that will increase its speed, allowing it to catch up to you.
"Dammit! How much further?!" You yell out as the titan extends an arm towards the squad. Without a second thought you jump off your horse and fly straight towards the titan.
"F/N!" You hear the entire squad yell as they get further and further away from you. "I need to distract it. Even just a few metres will do. This bitch was about to grab Eren. No one was going to do a thing!"
You land on its face and quickly jam a sword into its left eye. The titan closes the eye as it moves it's arm to punch you. You dodge without a second to spare as it hits itself in the face.
"Hah! Thought you were meant to be smart!" You yell as you notice some soldiers in the trees not two-hundred metres ahead of you. "Ah. So that's their plan. Welp. They went to all the trouble of setting those traps up. Better put them to use." You think as you fly just ahead of the titan, towards the trap.
The titan was now running faster as it tried to grab you. It reaches forward and even takes a lunge to you as you narrowly miss it. "C'mon! Just a few more metres!"
You fly into the small clearing where the commander had set the traps. As soon as you enter the trapping zone you feel as if time had stopped. You look around in what felt like an hour when it was really only a couple seconds. In this time you notice the commander and all the other scouts hiding in the trees. You notice the barrel traps laid out on the ground and branches. You then noticed Levi. Who was standing with Erwin. Boy, if looks could kill. You look behind yourself and see the titans hand not two feet away from you. "Oh holy mother of shit!" You yell, coming back to reality, as you use more gas to get away from the titan. The sudden distance allows for the commander to set off the traps. Granted, you doubt he would have waited for you to get out of the way a second longer.
You quickly land up on a branch and search for Levi. A part of you wants to boast about how amazing you just were but another part wants to receive orders from your captain, not wanting to anger him more. Of course there is that dominant part of you that doesn't want to see Levi whatsoever. You don't even want to think about the punishment he may give you.
"F/N!" You hear Levi call. You look over to where Levi was standing on another branch and see Erwin staring at you as well as Levi. "Yep... I knew it... I'm so fucking dead when I get back."
"Go meet up with Eld and the others! They're just up ahead. Go find them now before you lose them." Levi yells. "Oh and don't think you're getting off scot-free from that little stunt you just pulled." He adds. "He is so fucking pissed. I'm royally screwed."
