Apathetic Aggressive (Levi X Reader)

"Huh?" You whisper as you stride through the forest, seeing nothing but the dense trees. "Why is it so quiet all of a sudden?"

"Everyone keep quiet, once we get to the supplies and know its safe, we can be as loud as we want." Hanji says slightly above a whisper.

The ride is nothing but silent as you ride through the forest. With each step your horse takes, you feel an unknown feeling of uncertainty and nervousness build up in your gut. 

"What's going on? It's too quiet for this so called 'titan infested forest'" You think to yourself as you look around at your squad. "Hanji, Levi and Mike have to have picked up on this by now... Why aren't they saying anything when they know something is off?" You ask yourself as you see Jean who is looking more than happy at the decline in titans.

"Over there." Levi states as barrels and metallic objects come into view.

"Maybe I was just being pessimistic again. Maybe this will be just a cut and dry mission."

"Everyone, stay alert. Expect something to happen at any moment." Levi informs as you all come to a stop, getting off your horses and searching through the supplies. 

"What's this?" You ask as you hold up a hard crystal-like rock.

"Ooh! Lemme see that!" Hanji says as she snatches the rock out of your grip.

"Looks like the same crap she used to harden parts of her titan." Levi states.

"So we came out here... For a rock? How is that gonna help us?" You ask slightly annoyed.

"Trust that Erwin knows. Lets get going." Levi says as you hear Mike shooting down from a tree.

"We should probably wait for a bit." Mike states as he receives multiple confused looks. "The sun is already setting, It's gonna be a nightmare to find our way out of here and even if we do, it most likely wont be the same place we entered. Plus the cloud cover will make it even harder to see in the night." He informs.

"So what are we supposed to do?! We can't just stay out here all night in the rain!" You yell, frustrated. 

"Looks like we're gonna have to." Hanji says as she tries to look past the thick covering of the forest. "We can tie up the horses and settle on the branches. If they don't see us, they can't try to get to us."

You sit in the freezing night on a tree branch as rain lightly drizzles on you.  You had been paired up with two people per branch to try and avoid attracting titans. Mike sat on a branch with Jean roughly seventy metres away from you. Hanji sat alone, trying to examine the crystal-like rock almost a hundred metres away from you. You sat with Levi who was more or less squatting over the edge of the branch, keeping an eye out for any titans.

"Y'know you could fall right?" You ask as you open an eye, resting with you back up against the tree.

"Got ODM Gear for a reason L/N." Levi replies.

"Why don't you come sit down? It's cold, it's raining and you've been staring at pitch black for the past hour." You state as you adjust your cape over your body. He lets out a sigh before standing up and walking over to you. He removes his cape and lets it fall over you.

"Better?" He asks.

"Hah?! Like hell I'm taking your cape! You'll freeze! Just come sit down aren't you tired jeez!" You say as you grab his wrist and pull him down towards you. "Sit down and shut up." You inform as you sit him next you and share both capes with him. Levi lets out a sigh but gives in.

"So what is it you want to talk about?" He questions. "That is why you were so insistent on me sitting down right? What do you-" He asks but is cut off when you wrap your arms around his shoulders.

"I told you that you need more hugs." You state as you pull him close and rest your head on his shoulder.

"Tch, whatever brat." He says as he puts an arm around you. "Do you just hug everyone you see?" He asks.

"No. Personally, hugging someone is annoying and it angers me. That's why I have never hugged anyone except for my parents when they pestered me enough." You state. "But you.... I dunno. Just... Something about you. Makes me wanna follow you, stand by your side, trust you, be acknowledged by you. I know it sounds stupid but I wanna protect you even though I know you are more than capable of looking out for yourself. Honestly, you take all of my emotions and ideals, my morals even, and throw them out the window. It annoys me but I can't help but feel this way." You inform as you wrap your arms around his waist and bring your head lower to his chest.

Levi sits quietly next to you, not knowing how to respond with this newly absorbed information. He holds you slightly tighter as he shields you from the rain. 

"Hey, Levi..." You ask. "What were you and Erwin talking about last night in his office?" You ask sloppily, getting closer and closer to a deep sleep.

"It doesn't matter... Get some rest." Levi informs, resting a hand on your head while his other arm is still firmly wrapped around you. Within a few minutes, you fall asleep under the capes and Captain's hold.
