Apathetic Aggressive (Levi X Reader)

"F/N! Keep close!" Mike yells as you race towards the meetup point with Mike following closely behind.

"We have to hurry! While we still have our opening!" You yell as you make a beeline towards the trees. Coming within six-hundred metres of the trees, a titan dashes towards you, breaking off from the small group Levi had chasing him.

"Shit. Is that an abnormal?" Mike asks as you stand up on your horse, ready to attack the titan. "No F/N! Stay down! Keep going towards the regroup point! I've got this!" He yells as you give him an irritated groan. You obey and keep racing off as you watch mike behind you take down the large titan. He gets back on his horse and races back up to you.

"I could have handled that!" You yell, annoyed.

"I have no doubts that you can't." Mike replies as you give him an even more irritated look.

"Then why the hell didn't you let me kill it?!" You yell as you see Mike hesitate for a second.

"... Levi." Mike says quietly, not really wanting you to hear.

"Levi? What about him? He's not even here." You say as you look over in the direction of said man to find him jumping off his horse to slaughter the titans.

"He asked me to keep you safe and that's what I intend on doing." Mike informs with a stern voice.

"He what?" You ask quietly, surprised when you remember Levi stopping to whisper something to Mike back on the top of the wall. "That's probably when he said that... Damn him..." You say, and for some reason, rather than feeling angry at being protected as if you're weak. You're happy. Something about knowing he's looking out for you, bring joy to your face and heart, it gives you butterflies. But now is not the time for such feelings, you have a mission and you intend on seeing it through.

You and Mike come to a stop at the small gathering of trees to find Hanji and Jean already there. They must not have run into any titans like you and Mike had considering you were on the ground and heading towards this spot a lot sooner than they were.

"F/N, Mike, you two alright?" Hanji asks. "I saw you take care of that titan Mike. Good job."

"Yeah. Nothing I couldn't handle." Mike states as he rubs his index finger across the bridge of his nose a couple times.

"Where's Levi?" You ask, not seeing him anywhere with you.

"... We can't afford to wait for him any longer." Hanji states as she points over to some oncoming titans in the distance. "We have to make for the giant forest. Hopefully we will meet up with him before we get there." She adds.

"But what if he's hurt?!" You ask as you begin to ride in the direction of the forest with Mike, Hanji and Jean.

"Don't be worried about Levi F/N. He can handle whatever shit's thrown at him." Mike states.

"I know. And I'm not worrying dammit! I-.." You state before going quiet. "It's... It's not like I'm worried about him... I... I feel... Terrified that he may not come back..." You think, not really sure why you feel like this. "I want him to be safe.." You whisper, not realising you had said that out loud. You look up and catch Hanji looking back at you with a slightly shocked look before smiling and facing back in front of her.

After ten minutes of nothing but the sounds of hooves hitting the ground and loud thumps in the distance, you finally hear the thumps slowly getting louder. Swiftly, you turn you head back and see three fifteen metre titans making a beeline straight towards you.

"Shit. I thought you said Levi would take care of the titans behind us!" Jean yells to Hanji who looks back and hesitates for a split second. You see the shocked look wash over Hanji's face. When you put two and two together, your blood runs cold and a shiver races up your spine, legs feeling numb.

"He.. Can't be..." You whisper as you look past the titans behind you, frantically searching the terrain behind to spot Levi. "Dammit! Where is he?!" You yell.

"F/N, we have to keep going. I'll take care of the titans." Mike states as he starts to fall behind on his horse to get closer to the beasts. You turn back and proceed to make for the forest that was coming into view. "Dammit. Where the hell is he?" You think to yourself as you recall something from the previous night.

"Go to sleep brat. You're gonna need some energy tomorrow." You remember Levi saying as he walked past your room. "And L/N. Don't die on me tomorrow." He stated with a stern voice. You smiled and gave him a determined look. "Same goes for you. If you die, I'ma be hella mad." You replied to him.

"Dammit! I know he isn't dead. He can't be. But where the fuck?" Your thoughts are cut short when you hear Jean yelling at Mike to watch out. You turn your gaze back to the titans and see Mike in the grasp of the one titan still standing. 

"Fuck. Mike!" You yell as you turn your horse around and race towards the titan. "Hang on!" You yell as you stand up on your horse, ready to launch your ODM gear to the titan.

You are about to shoot the first grapple onto the titans left shoulder when you hear an additional set of ODM gear zipping towards the titan. Before you know who it was or what was happening, the titan falls to the ground on its stomach, revealing that a large chunk of its neck is missing. Mike gets out of the titans hold and brushes himself off as if it were nothing more than a trip in the dirt.

"Mike. You okay?" You hear a deep voice ask causing you to look int he direction of the voice.

"Heh. Yeah. My head was somewhere else for a second." Mike replies as he scratches the back of his head. "Sorry I'm having to overwork you, Levi." He adds.

"Tch, I'm not complaining." Levi states as he stares down at you from atop the fallen titan. "You okay brat?" He asks.

"Yeah. Where the hell were you?!" You yell as the three of you get back on your horses.

"Well, if you were listening earlier. I was distracting those damn fiends. So you should have damn well been hoping I wasn't anywhere near you lot." Levi states as you meet back up with Hanji and Jean.

"Good, no one splits up from now on." Hanji states as you come within two-hundred metres of the forest.
