rebekah had dragged her older sister into almost every available shop she'd found suitable in the mall. the younger had almost even forced her to enter victoria's secret, but kari outright refused to go anywhere near the store, saying she'd abandon their shopping trip entirely if the other blonde tried to bring her there.

"i'm just saying, ri, you'd be able to pull off all of that lingerie. your figure is outstanding," rebekah compliments, trying to subtly convince her sister, but kari just sends her a small glare.

"one more word, and i'll indirectly tell klaus that you stole his card for this little expedition."

the younger pouts at first, but then she lets out a sigh and observes the dark colored dresses on the rack in front of them.

"how long do you plan to torture them for what they did to you?"

kari pauses in her searching, eyes falling on the floor before she sighs as well. "as long as i feel like. they had no right to do what they did, just as klaus has done to you over and over again. i thought you would understand more, after what he did to you in the twenties, finn during our first hundred years, and kol in the 1910s. and elijah always takes his side."

the bitterness in her words makes rebekah's undead heart clench. she knew there was more to what happened with kari, but she had never breathed a word of it to any of them. she had tried to push the subject on multiple occasions, as had the others, but the second mikaelson daughter would shut herself off from the questions and push her siblings away.

"you're right about all that, but... they're still our brothers."

"yes, but they never truly apologized for doing that to me. why should i forgive them when elijah never apologized for giving me away to klaus, and klaus never even bothered properly apologizing for daggering me like he did. neither of them meant it when they gave me their half-assed apologies, so why the hell should i forgive them?" she says, tone rising slightly with her evident anger. a nearby customer looks over in confusion, but they decide to mind their own business and move away.

a smart choice, considering the anger of a mikaelson is never something anyone would want to be around.

"kari, i'm sorry for upsetting you, but-"

"i'm heading home, rebekah. i'll see you later," she cuts her off, averting her eyes and angrily leaving her younger sister alone in the store. rebekah watches as the elder storms away, dejected and guilty for bringing up the topic when they'd been having such a good day.

as the younger decided to continue her shopping venture alone, kari left the mall and decided to find someplace to eat. she was craving pizza, and she remembered a good place nearby that she had visited before and enjoyed.

after ordering, she moved to the side to await receiving her pizza, only to grow confused when her phone rang. side eyeing the device for a moment, she sighs before answering it.

"hello?"

"hey, ri, do you wanna go somewhere tonight? i'm dying of boredom and nik is being an ass as usual, so i'm asking you to save me from his paranoid ass," kol's voice filters in from the other end of the line, making her smile lightly.

"karie!" one of the clerks calls out, and kari smiles as she gets her pizza and walks out of the place.

"that sounds fun, kol, but what kind of outing are you planning for us? because i don't particularly feel like clubbing tonight," she responds to the younger mikaelson, almost able to hear his pout through the phone.

"but kari! we never go clubbing!"

"we went clubbing a couple weeks ago, brother. you even managed to convince finn to accompany us, and he ended up accidentally taking heroine, remember?"
