"you got in... to NYU?" Kate asked, slight hint of disappointment in her voice.

Andi chuckled lightly. "yeah, I guess I did."

"then I guess you're gonna go there then, huh?"

"I- I don't know yet-"

"'cause it's your dream school, isn't it? So you go to Westwood for a year then try to get into NYU, then when you do, you'll leave here for good?"

"Kate-"

"then you'll go back to New York with all your old friends and forget all about us. Me, Alannah, Justine, Jess and Anthony. Aren't you?" She interrupted, starting to get a bit angry. "did you even intend on making friends with us? Or are you just planning on surviving Westwood, then hopping on a plane back to New York as soon as you graduate?"

"Kate none of those things are true. Well, except the dream school part, but I'm not going to forget about you guys!"

"don't you remember what I said about the us having to be together for the universe to work? Did you even acknowledge that?"

What Kate has just said really brought Race's attention to this conversation. (A/N: Race be sitting there like 👁👄👁 AHAHA chile anyways so) The whole universe talk is what their inner circle always talked about. The universe needs Andi, Elmer, Race, Albert and Finch to be together. One person gone and it gets all shaken up. That's what they promised.

"yes, I do remember. Look, if you would just listen to-"

"Alannah was right when she said we shouldn't trust you." Kate finally said and picked up her acceptance letters, which were back in the envelopes. She then left Andi's house without a single goodbye, not even to Race.

Andi stood up to follow her. "Kate-" Before she could get any further, Race stopped her.

"let me go talk to her."

"she's my friend!" Andi protested.

"and she's mine too. And who will she listen to right now, me or you?"

"when did you get smart?" She wondered with a deadpanned look on her face.

"only in desperate times." Race winked and followed Kate out of the house. Luckily, she wasn't too far away, so he ran to catch up to her before she entered the bus.

"Kate!" Race called, in which she turned around.

"look, if you're going to try to defend Andi, forget about it. I've been left too many times and I don't wanna go through it again. So I just made it easier for myself."

Race's eyes softened at Kate's statement. "you... what?" He asked quietly.

"nothing. I'm going to Alannah's." Kate turned around and started to make her way to the bus stop when Race stopped her by grabbing her wrist. "hey, let me go!" She whined and tried to yank her wrist out of Race's hand. But he just tightened his grip.

"tell me why yer mad at Andi."

Kate sighed and sat on the bench. Race then sat a little closer to her than she had expected. "I'm not mad at Andi, I'm mad that she's leaving." She confessed, speaking softly. "we've gotten so close this year, she became a really good friend to me."

"and ya think you're gon' lose her?"

"I've lost many important people in my life. You know before Andi came, Alannah, Justine and I had a fourth best friend. Her name was Kerry, she was our friend since we were seven. Then, she moved away and we completely lost touch with her, no matter how hard we tried not to. She was the one who didn't try, then she forgot all about us."
