Chapter Twelve

I woke up to the wind howling. 

" Ellie?" Jesse asked, knocking on my door.

" Yeah?" 

" Tommy and I are heading out for Seattle." 

" In this?" 

" She said it's perfect cover for us." 

" Dina needs to go with you." 

Jesse opened my door. " What?" 

" It's my fault. I had a flashback to when I.... something happened and I went to, off myself, and I... I had taken my gun and put it up to my head without even realising what I was doing it. While were out there... I'll get her killed." 

" If your saying what I think your saying, you can't go out there either." 

" Once I'm in that type of envirment, everything like that get's instantly sealed away. I'll be fine Jesse." 

Jesse exhailed. " If your going with Tommy, better hurry up. He's at the stables right now." 

" Take care of her." 

" You know I will." 

I grabbed my backpack, made sure my pistol was loaded, along with my hunting rifle, and grabbed my knife. 

" I'll walk you over there. Come on."

" Tommy." Jesse called to Tommy before he went out the North Gate. 

" Where the hell have you been?" Tommy asked. " I was about to take off without you." 

" Ellie's goin with you instead of me." 

Tommy huffed. " Where is the?" 

" I'm right here." I said, climbing up on Thunder, Tommy's horse. 

" Anything else?" Tommy asked. 

" Nope. You two stay safe." 

" You have everything?" Tommy asked as the gate opened. 

" Yep." 

" Let's get goin then." 

Must be well below zero for him to be shivering. 

"Easy." Tommy said as I drew my bow, hearing a Clicker screach. If he moves as slowly as he is, we'll walk right past it." 

More screaching ecoed through the snow as we made it into the woods. " What the hell?"

" Did they change the plans?"

" Yeah. Were taking the origional rout." 

" Let's get going. I don't like just sitting here."  

Tommy slowlt clicked his toung and Thunder started to do a slow walk through the visable woods, keeping my bow drawn.

March 3rd 

It's been two weeks since we've left Jackson. We've bearly found any supplies, and we were out of the ones we started with. We've been stick in dence woods for almost all of the trip, every sound makes us flinch.

" I found where the road use to be." Tommy called from my right. 

I closed my journel, stearing Thunder in the direction I heard Tommy. 

" According to the map, we just have to go forward, eventually well find Seattle." Tommy said as Thunder stopped. 

A few minutes in, Tommy spotted a few cars. They were super rusty, the couchens, stearingwheels, even the doors were taken off of them. 

" There's nothing here for us. I'm gonna look around for a bit." 

" I'll yell if I need help." 

Tommy heared off to the right as I opened my journel again, continuing my entry. 

Their's something up with Tommy, has been since we left, but everytime I go to ask, it's like he knows it's coming. My flashbacks haven't come back. I have nothing aginst Tommy, I just wish Dina was here. I miss her so much. Because of what happened, she's never going to look at me the same way. God I hate myself. 

" I found the inerstate." Tommy said, jogging back, prosseding to het back on Thunder. 

Tommy patted Thunder on his left shoulder blade and he galaped off. 

" Look at all of those trucks." I said, Thunder making hs was down a hill. 

" They probably don't have anyhting in them, but it wouldn't hurt to look." 

" I'll stay with Thunder." 

Tommy took of, not having to open the vehicles to see in them. 

Opening my journel, I started on a sketch of Dina, and by the end of it Tommy was heading back towards me. 

" Couldn't find anything." He wheezed. 

" You think there's people in Seattle?" 

" I would be suprised if there were." 

Tommy got back up on Thunder and we followed the interstate up to the Seattle Quarntine Zone. Every vehicle and small building we came across did't have a single thing in it. 

" That answers your question."

I turned my head back infront of me. " WLF. Must be something involved with Washington right?" 

" Sounds like it. I'll look around. Watch the guard towers." 

A few minutes later, Tommy yelled over " I found out why no one's guarding." 

" Was the wall breached?" 

" Pretty bad. Looks like a Bloater busted through it." 

I steared Thunder over, finding a massinve gap in the wall. 

" Keep your eyes open." Tommy warned as he walked through the hole. 

There was a metal trailer sitting on the left side with two genorater stations. No gas in them. There were freash blood stains everythere, but no bodies.

" See anything we can block that hole with?" Tommy asked. 

" Only thing I can think o is trying to move one of those cars but they could climb it."

" Then we just have to hope Dina and Jesse are close by. Lets get a move on, the suns settn'." 

" These buildings don't look like they've ben ransacked. We might have a chance of finding something." 

" There to big to spend the night in. I'll mark em' on the map and we can come back to them tomorow." 

" Any gas in it?" I asked Tommy. 

" Not even a drop" 

I clicked my toungue and Thunder started walking again. 

" Don't go to far." 

I passed through the broken through fence, coming to a slightly uphill bank. 

" Tommy, I found downtown Seattle."
