" Come on, give me something." I sighed, opening another drawer.
I kicked the decreped wood, causing a loud pop.
" Hunting it is."
I hopped over an overturned eighteen wheeler, almost tripping on one of the trip mines I had placed in the patch of grass to my right and under the front of the truck
" Fuck Ellie. Pay attention."
I took the left path that would lead into the woods. I cut through a little bakery and back into the woods, the same way Tommy and I had got to Hillcrest.
" Search the area," I heard a women say. " Be careful, those three have killed so many of us already."
Looking through my scope, I spotted eight in the small group, including the women.
Two branched off to the right, three continued straight, and the other three headed right.
I army crawled through a patch of short grass, making it to a large elm tree for cover, repleting the process until I had a good advantage.
A of whistling had started going on, lasting for five minutes then stopped.
I moved my scope along with the small group as they went through a restaurant, walking up two long sets of stairs before the front four exploded.
" GET BACK!" A women with the sludge hammer yelled.
Something was tossed at one of the ones on the right side, then she blew up.
One of the men that had gotten to cover let out a normal, loud, three symboled whistle, but no answer came from around the area.
A kid with a shaven head darted through of the tree line, shooting a women still running away with his bow and arrow, killing her instantly.
" It's the Apostate!" A man yelled. " Kill him!"
" You sick fuckers. You're not killing a kid on my watch."
I lined up a shot on the tall women with the sludge hammer, blowing her brains out onto the man that was crouching next to her. He didn't realize that she was dead until her body hit the ground, giving me time to shot him before he told the last remaining three.
A man started to try and flank the boy. I shot him in the back as a response.
The two remaining men peaked out from the store window, earning the one on the left an arrow to the head, and the other a head shot.
I lowered my rifle in response to hearing some glass being stepped on behind me. I slowly raised my hands up, the barrel of a shotgun being pressed . " I'm not one of them."
" Then who are you?" A women asked.
" I'm hunting."
" Where did you come from?"
" Wyoming. The settlement I'm from is running out of food. I'm just scouting the area, securing it as I go. My friends and my Uncle are the only ones here. They don't kill anyone that doesn't pose a threat."
The shotgun was backed up. " Stand up slowly. I'll shoot if you lounge."
I did as she said.
" Now turn around slowly."
Glass was stepped on again from downstairs. " Abby?"
" Everything's fine up here," The women called down. " Just talking to our friend."
I finished turning around to see a semi tanned, blown eyed, dark brown haired, semi muscular women, holding a double barreled shotgun.
The boy darted up the stares, his bow drawn, two long scars on his jawlines, soonly followed up by a young women with brides hair, her brown hair and eyes covered in blood.
Abby lowed her shotgun.
" What are you doing? She might attack us." The young women said.
" She's not going to."
The boy lowered his bow.
" You can lower your arms." Abby said as she sat down on a weirdly clean mattress.
I slowly lowered my hands, taking off my backpack and taking my pistol out of my holster, along with my switchblade.
" You didn't need to do that."
" I don't want to be shot."
The other two sat down.
" All the way from Wyoming? How long did it take you to get here?"
" Three weeks."
" How many in the settlement?"
" Hundreds. It's walled in with miles of cleared perimeters and lookouts spread in all directions. We have a hydroelectric power plant for power, everyone's very civil."
" I know about all of that. My friend was on a mission to see if there was anyone in Wyoming, and she found your group. I'm sorry if that scared your people."
" It's fine."
" You can pick up your things. I need someone with your skills."
" Your WLF?"
She turned back towards me. " I don't know anymore. I've been AWOL for a few days. I'm guessing you saw the posters?"
" The Serevina Hotel had WLF of it. I saw it out of the corner of my eye while I was running away from the guys in brown robs."
" You can call them psychopaths. It's okay with us." The boy said.
I put my backpack on as the three exited the room.
" Your trip mines are very effective," Abby complemented me. " One of them took down a Bloater."
" I learned the recipe from my girlfriend. Shes good with mechanical and technical stuff."
" We spotted a teenage girl and boy on the South side. There safe at our South camp. Soon as we get on that mountain I'll radio my friends and have her check up on them."
" Thank you."
" It's not a problem at all."
( Hi guys. Rest assured, this version of Abby is as likable as a she would have been if she didn't kill Joel. It's totally fine if you still have her guts. That's your choice. Just saying this vision of Abby is going to be WAY more likable, along with her friends. Happy reading<3)
