Chapter Ten

" OPEN THE GATES! WE'VE GOT WOUNDED!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, darting for the gate.

The gates swung open, Maria standing there shocked as she saw and unconscious Tommy, and A badly beaten and impaled Joel. 

" Jesus." Jessie said as Quill and Nessa darted towards us to help Ebon and I drag in Tommy and Joel. 

" The fuck happened Ellie?" Quill asked in a sobbing tone. 

" A group came after them. There all dead accept for one." I growled. 

We dragged Tommy and Joel in, then all the way to the makeshift clinic the community had built. 

Nathen started giving orders left and right to the few nurses he had left as they darted around the building. 

" Ellie?" Dina asked as she started to rub my back. 

I darted up." Where's that bitch?" 

" She's being handled." Dina answered in the same dark tone. 

Joel's screams echoed through the building as Cassie cauterize his injury.

" Ellie." Darius said beside me. 

" I'll be fine. You guys need to focus on him." 

I walked away, feeling Dina's eyes on the back of my neck.

" Ellie?" Maria's voice asked as I opened the door to Joel's house. " Oh Ellie, our scared me. Where the hell have you been?" 

I glanced over to see a women sitting at the other end of the table, her neatly braided hair swinging as she got up and left the room.

" Who was that?" 

" Here, sit down. I'll get you something to eat." 

" Maria. Who was that?" 

Maria went into the kitchen as the backdoor closed. 

I got up and went through the house and opened the door to find the women going through her backpack. 

" Who are you?" 

She looked at me as she closed her backpack. " I was the women on the radio." 

" You were here to kill Joel." 

" I was." 

She raised her hands up when I saw the hammer hanging from her belt. " I forgave him. I'm sorry my friends did that to your Father and Uncle. I tried to go up there, out your Aunt wouldn't let me. I'm going back to the cell block to talk to my friend, and I will be taken back to Seattle in a few days." 

" Ellie, don't." Maria said behind me. 

" Why are you waiting to back?" I asked the women. 

" Your Aunt needs extra people to help capture Seattle, and the community I belong to can help. Food trade, supply trade, animal trade, anything and everything we can help each other out." 

" You and Dina are taking her back to her people to make sure she's telling the truth." Maria said. 

" Fine." 

The women nodded, then turned and left.

" You believe her?"

" Sit down, and we'll talk." 

I exhailed and came back inside and sat down infront of a hot plate of dinner. 

" Abby has proven that she can be trusted."
