" Oh god." Tommy gasped.

Freshly dead bodies were everywhere. Some charred, emailed by multiple arrows, cut into ribbons, stabbed to death, riddled with bullets, or torn apart by infected.

An arrow suddenly whizzed past us, hitting the tree behind us.

Tommy jumped off of Thunder as another hit the ground. I followed.

Tommy whistled in a high pitch and Thunder took off in the other direction. Two sharp load whistles echoed directly after the shot.

" Where not a threat!" Tommy yelled, putting his hands up. " We're just were scouting the area and JESUS FUCK!"

Blood was spraying out of Tommy's wrist. I quickly wrapped up his wrist with my jacket.

Two normal short whistles sounded as twigs started to snap quicklt.

I gripped the but of my hunting rifle and waited for whoever it was to show up, firing a silenced shut into their neck.

I looked over at Tommy, a shocked expression still on his face.

" Tommy."

He didn't look at me.

" Tommy."

His eyes darted my direction. " Get out of here. I'll cover you."

He squeezed his eyes togther. " I'm not leavn' you."

" These people shot you when you were surrendering. They will kill us."

" That's exactly why I can't leave you."

" Your shot and bleeding out. I can't cover both of us. I'll be okay Tommy. Joel taught me how to survive. How to kill."

" I know that advice to well. Don't cross your moral lines."

He darted up, running for the deep creek bed.

I scanned the area, not a soal in sight. " They don't know where hear."

I caught up to Tommy in a few secounds. We managed to get the hell out of dodge before anyone was alerted of our presance.

" Shit, where gonna have to carterize the vein, I'm sorry."

" This is my own damn fault. I knew there were people here, I didn't think."

" You were rased that way. To trust in others. It's not your fault."

I tugged on the arrow, then quickly taking my lighter and putting it into the hole, Tommy clinching his hand so hard that his knuckles turned white.

" What's the plan, Miss Headstrong?" Tommy asked through gritted teath.

" One, I hate to say it, but let Thunder go. Since we're not in the city limits of Seattle, their's not going to be any rain to get rid of his horse tracks. Two, we have to go as deep as we can go back into the forest, then swing West a bit. Looks liks their guarding the taller buildings with their lives, so we have to find some neighborhoods. I might have stopped the bleeding, but it could get a nasty infection. I found the hospital, but we're going to have to skip the going West a bit, and instead go East when we come out of the woods so where coming in at Hillcraest. It sounds like a name of the neighborgood. What do you think?"

" Sonds like a plan."

It wasn't ling before Tommy started to faint from all the blood he had lossed. The food situation is stil grim, and it started pissing rain. The only good news is that we made it to Hillcrest in one piece. Where holding up in a laundry washing department. I've littered the area with trip mines, hopefully I can find something sugary for Tommy. He's not looking good. I hate the idea of leaving Tommy, but if I don't do somehing, he'll die.

The wind had built up, causing some already loose glass to break.

I put my journal in my backpack, contiuing to wait out the storm, getting more lost in my thoughts.

All of my feelings rushed up to the surface at once, causing my to sob wildly.

" Why dies everyone have to leave me?"
