Baby Steps

JJ blushed and said, "Whatever you say, Em. Let's go get ready."

"Awesome." I smiled and took JJ's hand, saying bye to the rest of the group and leading her to my car. I drove us the short distance back to the residence halls and escorted her inside. Instead of going to her dorm, we took a detour and visited mine so I could give her the outfit I picked out.

I picked up a gorgeous black dress for JJ to wear tonight. I didn't wanna get something too revealing, as much as I'm dying to see her like that, because I don't wanna treat her like just another score. She's different to me, and I'm trying to show her that.

I unlocked the door and saw that Tara wasn't here. JJ admired, "Wow. You guys have such a cool room." She marveled at the vintage posters on our wall and my extensive record collection. She thumbed through it and asked, "Do you guys actually play these?"

I pointed to the record player behind her, "Yep."

"That's so cool. I love your room. Can I move in?"

I chuckled, "I think Tara would be opposed to that."

"What's she like?"

"She's cool. Psychology major. Big on activism and campaigns. She's on the softball team."

JJ sat on my bed and asked me, "Do you play any sports?"

"Football."

She raised her brows in admiration, "You're on the football team?"

"Yeah. Wide receiver."

She bit her lip, "You'll have to invite me to one of your games some time." I gulped at her flirtatious tone.

I changed the subject in order to keep self-control, "So um, I picked this up for you." I handed her a white box. "I really hope it fits and also that you don't hate it."

She lifted up the lid and admired, "It looks beautiful, Em, oh my god! I hope this wasn't too expensive?"

I leaned down and kissed her cheek, "It's worth it... So I'll pick you up around 7:00?"

She smiled, "Sounds great," and then headed upstairs to get ready. It was currently 6:00 so I had plenty of time to get ready. I decided on a pair of white slacks and a silk beige top. It was missing a little something so I added a snake skin belt, borrowed from Aaron, to tie it all together.

Once I was all ready to go, it was 6:54 and almost time to go pick up JJ. I waited a few more minutes and then headed to the east wing to go knock on her door.

Penelope answered, already back from the group's quick dinner, "Ooh don't you look delicious this evening! Come on in, Emily."

"Thanks, Penelope... Is JJ ready?"

JJ stepped out of their lounge, "I think so."
