— Emily's POV
Four days without JJ was comparable to a drug withdrawal. My mood has seriously been so shitty with how much I'm missing her. I plopped down onto my seat on the plane and sighed before taking my earphones out of my backpack.

Derek crashed into the seat next to me and asked, "Feeling any better?" He's heard more than an earful about how much I wanna see JJ again.

"Are we home yet? No? Didn't think so."

"We will be soon, princess, don't worry."

"What about you? You excited to see Penelope?" JJ and I are both so frustrated with him because of how aloof he's been with Pen.

"I am actually."

"Really?!" He scrunched his brows at me. "I uh, I mean... Really?"

"Yeah. I miss her."

I mumbled under my breath, "Thank god."

"What was that?"

"Nothing." I stuffed my earphones into my ear and ignored the flight attendant as she went through safety instructions and prepared us for takeoff. When the plane was finally in the air, I went to my downloaded playlists on Spotify and swiped through them. I settled on my favorite one— it's called "JJ 💋"

"'JJ?'" Derek nudged me to get my attention.

I took one earphone out, "Huh?"

"You have a playlist called 'JJ?' For real, E?"

"Problem?"

He laughed, "You're really serious about this girl, aren't you?"

"Only you would think making a playlist for a girl is next to marriage."

"What songs are on it? It's not like a sex playlist is it?"

"Nah I have another one for that."

"Excuse me?"

"Nothing, um... This one just has a bunch of songs that remind me of JJ."

"Like what? 'She's So Nice' maybe?" He wiggled his brows up and down.

"No, you dick... It has nicer ones. And songs that she likes. Things like that."

"Cool... The seatbelt sign's off, imma go talk to Jason." I rolled my eyes and let him get up to migrate down the plane. I put my earphones back in and nestled into my seat as I listened to JJ's music and let her fill my mind.

A couple hours later
Our plane just landed but instead of going straight to see JJ in her dorm I thought I'd stop and pick up a little gift for her first. I took a cab to Target and stalked through the aisles, looking for some of JJ's favorite things. I grabbed a large bag of Cheetos, a bouquet of flowers, a new set of fuzzy socks, a pack of scrunchies, and a pair of AirPods since she lost hers. That last thing might have been a bit of a splurge but she's totally worth it. I put everything in a gift bag and sent a text to JJ.

[Emily- 7:27] hey, gorgeous
[Emily- 7:27] we just landed so i'll be round in like 5 minutes

I hailed another cab and gave the driver the address for Yale's library, where I assumed JJ was probably studying for midterms. The ride was nice and short, which was good because I was dying to see her ASAP. I rushed inside and headed for her favorite study room. To my disappointment, she wasn't in there.
