"Emily, it could be worse okay?"

"How?"

"You're so dramatic! It's just a double date!" It was kind of adorable to me how nervous Emily got sometimes. Today we're going on a double date with Derek and Penelope, and Emily doesn't wanna go. She's telling me it's because she "hates double dates" but I know she's just worried about people seeing how she really acts around me. She's my little baby.

She groaned from the beanbag chair in my room, "But it's not my thing. I prefer when it's just you and me."

"I know, but just make this small sacrifice for a couple hours out of your day. For me?" I made my puppy dog eyes at her as I packed up my purse.

"Ugh, fine."

I heard a knock on our door followed by, "Y'all ready?"

Emily shot up and opened the door, "Hey D!" She wrapped Derek in a quick hug, then pulled away to butch up again.

Penelope giddily skipped out of the lounge and squealed, "My sculpted greek god of a man is here!" She pounced into Derek's arms, kicking her legs up in excitement.

I stepped over to Emily and linked my arm in hers, "Ready, Em?"

She kissed my forehead and smiled, "Yep. Can't wait." There was a huge mall about 20 minutes from campus, by car. I climbed into the passengers seat of Emily's car as she hopped into the driver's spot. Most of the drive was spent listening to Derek and Penelope swap their affectionate flirting. It was admittedly cute but also awkward because Emily and I didn't communicate with each other in a way even remotely close to the way they did. We found a spot pretty close to the front door of the mall; Penelope and I jumped out of the car and held hands as we walked in front of Derek and Emily, speeding into the mall.

I asked Pen once we were inside, "Okay what's first? Macy's? Pink? Forever 21?"

Emily and Derek looked around the mall before simultaneously nodding to each other, "Foot Locker."

Penelope rolled her eyes, "Ew no."

Derek scoffed, "Well what do you expect us to buy in Forever 22?"

I giggled, "21. Forever 21... I guess we'll catch up with you guys later then. We'll be in Macy's." Pen and I skipped off in the opposite direction from the other two and waltzed into Macy's. We weren't even in there for 15 minutes when we heard Emily and Derek walking up behind us. I turned around and asked, "What are you two doing here?"

Emily replied, "Um... We're done shopping?"

Penelope gasped, "Already?! No, honeys, you've been gone 10 minutes."

Derek stuffed his hands in his pockets, "Well we're done. How're you guys doing?"

"We've barely started. We're just about to head upstairs to look at dresses. You wanna come?"

Emily laughed, "Don't have much of a choice, do we?" I grabbed Emily's hand and Penelope grabbed Derek's as we headed upstairs. We each picked out an armful of dresses and modeled them for our significant others like we were at a fashion show.

I stood in front of Emily and posed in a blue minidress, "What about this one? Is it better than the green?"

She shrugged, "I don't know, I like both."

I scoffed, "That's not helpful, Em."

Penelope giggled from Derek's lap, "I think the blue suits you, Jayje. It's your color."
