It's mid-July and I'm around 6 months pregnant. Riley and I were sitting at the table, flipping through magazines. We were planning her 13th birthday party which was at the beginning of August.
"Ooh I like this one!" She squeals, pointing at a small animal themed birthday cake, before frowning, "But it's like $25."
"Sweetie you don't need to worry about the costs. We will manage it. Just choose whatever you like. Becoming a teenager is a special part of your life." I tell her.
"Alright...Do you think this one is good?" Riley asks, pointing at a small vanilla cake.
"Do you like it?" I ask.
"Yea!" She smiles.
"I'll call the bakery later to order that one then." I note, "What gift do you want?"
"I don't know...I was thinking since Sebby has is own pet, maybe a pet for myself, but that's a lot for me to ask..." She
"Of course! Just let me know what you plan on getting and I can take you to pick out a pet." I grin.
"Really? Thank you Pippa!" She squeals.
"You're welcome honey. Any ideas what you want?" I ask.
"I'm not sure..." She begins, "I was thinking maybe a bird?"
"Mhm we can do some research later, okay?" I suggest, gently patting her shoulder.
"Okay!" Riley smiles.
"I'm going to wake the boys up." I tell her, "I've got to run a few errands after."
Lin was in the kitchen making coffee. He sees me, and says, "Sebby's awake. Benji might be sleeping still."
"Thanks, Lin."
I quickly check on Sebby, who was up and jumping on his toddler bed. "Sebby! Get down, you're not supposed to jump on your bed." I scold.
"Sorry Mommy. I was excited." Sebby admits sheepishly.
"Let's get you dressed. Rileys already awake." I coo.
Sebby runs to his dresser, and I help him choose out an outfit.
Eventually our entire family is sitting in the kitchen, eating breakfast. "What do we have to do today?" Riley asks.
"Not much. Just grocery shopping and if we have time, we can take Bailey to the park where we can have a picnic. Oh and if you want, we can check out the pet store. Lin can watch the boys and I can take you." I say, poking around at my breakfast with my fork.
She nods and finishes her food, brings her plate to the sink, and she heads to the living room.
I suddenly hear a CLANK and see Benji's bowl go flying across the room. "Benji!" I scold, "Don't throw things."
I sigh and pick up his bowl, while Lin cleans him up, but there's still a bunch of oatmeal in his hair. "Bath time!" I laugh, wiggling my eyebrows. Benji screams and his face goes red.
"C'mon baby." I coo, gently bouncing him, trying to calm him down. He screams again and grabs ahold of my hair and tugs at it.
"Argh. Benji! No, stop." I sigh, prying his small fist open and pulling my hair back. "Lin! Get Sebby and Riley ready to go."
"Got it, Pips!" He notes, immediately getting up and cleaning after the kids. I sigh again. What am I going to do once baby Melody arrives? 4 kids in the house.
I set Benji in his bath and use a washcloth to wash his soft dark hair. He finally stops screaming, after realizing how relaxing the bath is. I pick him up and wrap him in a warm towel, and surprisingly he doesn't start screaming again. "Mah!" He squeals.
"Yes, Baby?" I coo, kissing his forehead.
"Mah! Mah!" Benji giggles again.
I dress him in a baby onesie, a plain blue one that has short sleeves-

and I also put a pair of shorts on him.
We left and went grocery shopping. When we got everything, we put everything away at home, packed some snacks and walked to the park with Bailey. Lin pulled the wagon where Sebby and Benji sat, and Riley happily walked with us. I walked Bailey and when we arrived at the park, I set down the blanket where we ate our snacks and watched the birds.
Riley and Sebby went and played on the play structure with the other kids. Sebby started running and tripped and fell on the gravel.
I quickly get up, but Lin beats me to him. Lin scoops Sebby up and gently sets him down on the blanket. I grab Sebby's arm and coo, "Where does it hurt?" I didn't see any scrapes or external injuries.
"My- My knee." Sebby whimpers.
"It's okay Sebby. Shh....Shhh.." I coo, pulling him into my lap.
"What if I go get ice cream for you guys? Then it will make Sebby feel better." Lin suggests.
"Great idea!" I agree, "Do you want ice-cream, Sebby?"
"Y-yes!" He giggles, tears still all over his face. I grab a tissue and gently wipe his face down.
"Riley! C'mere for a sec." I call. She jumps of the swings and runs to me.
"Yes, Pippa?" She asks.
"Lin is going to get ice cream for us." I tell her.
"Why?" She wonders.
"Sebby fell and got hurt. Just a bit of ice cream to make him feel better. It's a really nice day too." I reply.
"What flavour do you want, Riley and Sebby?" Lin asks us.
"Chocolate!" Sebby squeals.
"Er vanilla is fine!" Riley smiles.
"What about me?" I fake pout.
Lin kisses my forehead, before asking, "What flavour do you want Pip? Oh and Mel?"
"Lots and lots of strawberry icecream. And I mean a lot." I smirk.
"Hey!!" Sebby yells.
Lin comes back after 15 minutes and gives us our ice cream which we all devour. Benji claps his hands while toddling around.
"Can I give him a bit?" Riley asks, scooping a bit of vanilla icecream.
"Sure, but don't give him too much." I warn, "Too much isn't good for him."
Riley feeds a scoop of ice cream to Benji and he claps his hands again.
We decided to go to the pet store the next day, because we got tired. I was so glad that our family was happy and healthy.
