After adjusting to the light in the room I rose from bed and went to the kitchen where Morimoto and DK had already sat to eat. DK was reading his paper as Lana hurried to scurry around them. Lana was sort of a personal assistant to Takashi. She cooked and cleaned but mostly saw to his needs. Right now she was rushing a cup of coffee over to him.
"Konnichiwa" Lana said back to me.
"Morning" I answered as I leaned myself against the counter. "So whats on for the day boss?" I ask as Morimoto casually gets up from his seat. Giving me a look like I was being nosey.
"I have to prepare for meetings this morning but I planned on getting you settled in." That was all that I had on my agenda for the day." If you want to join me you can." He insisted as he placed the paper neatly beside him. He gestured for me to follow.
I agreed with a nodd. I was still getting used to everything here. I really didn't want him to leave me alone with all these people. The house was huge if it could even be called a house.
There were hallways that led to his office and the the garage further down. Then past the kitchens were bedrooms and the open wash rooms that led to the inside onsen which was basically a huge built in tub kind of like a jacuzzi.
The outside was even bigger with the yard being transformed into a boxing ring along with weights and such for working out. There was also another bigger onsen outside on the garden area.So many people coming and going it was enough to make my head spin. Some were workers and some were here for business but I recognized a handful at most that were close friends.
"So your uncle he must at least trust you with all of this." I stated taking a sip of tea.
"I have to prove myself." He said with slight disdain. Almost like he was disappointed.
"Your uncle still hates me..."
"He doesn't like outsiders." He's loyal to his own and he doesn't want any woman for me. "He says they will get me killed." He retorted with a slight chuckle.
"Whats his story, why does he hate women so much?"
"He doesn't hate. Woman are a distraction." Thats what he always says. "He loved my mother though. That much I know for sure."
"He did?" I was surprised to hear him speak about his family. I situated myself on the chair beside him with my warm cup of tea as I waited for him to continue.
"My mother was promised to him before they ran off to war."
"So thats why, because he was hurt by your mother?"
"Kamata never resented either of them. He still loved them both. I think he just couldn't give his heart to another."
"What happened to her?"
"During a rebellion when uncle first joined the yakuza. The authorities took my mother thinking she would lead them to the rebellion. She died in that camp protecting him."
"She still loved him then." I stated.
"Yes I believe she did. Kamata doesn't speak of the past too often. I was pretty young when they died."
"What happened between Kamata are your father?"
"They joined the military together." "After my father had been badly hurt he was sent to a rehab facility. Thats where my mother was stationed. She nursed him back to health and during that time they fell in love. He got stronger and then they sent him to work in communications. During this time he was working with them to encrypt messages from the enemy where he intercepted an ambush in the location of Kamatas platoon."
"The government meant to abandon him there but my father had connections. He convinced those connections to intervene and finally my uncle had been rescued." Sadly his platoon was slaughtered before they reached them. Kamata blamed the authorities that is what pushed him in to the rebellion."
"After the war my father went into politics for international peacekeeping and mom went into disaster relief." My uncle sided with friends for the yakuza. Still they both loved and respected one another."
"I always thought of him as a hero my uncle. Always dignified, and fierce with authority. My father admired him he used to say he was loyal above all and passionate about what he believed in. In a way it seemed my uncle had saved him in many ways. My grandfather had been cruel and things were not always easy growing up. Kamata was the only one that would stand up to him."
"I remember watching him as a boy and wondered why everyone fussed over him the way they did. Still his men would die for him if they could. What a great honor and such they would say."( time in past witness)
"Uncle also said that my father couldn't be apart of what he was he didnt have it in him. Too big of a heart. They never spoke about family drama. Always look at the future never the past. Past will get you no where. Then he would be silent as if he were remembering some great trauma they went through. The loyalty between the two is what inspired me to be better. What Kamata had with the yakuza represents family to me and that is what I've wanted for as long as I can remember."
He looked down at the stacks of paper that littered his desk and decided he wanted to show me around instead.
.......
Just outside and perfectly situated in the center of the gardens lay a boxing ring which really excited me.. I hadn't even had time to think about my training that I had committed to back in the states and now I wouldn't have to worry. There was plenty of equipment here.
Already this morning a group of people crowded around cheering on the two who were fighting it out. Of course there was cash being tossed around. I just wanted in.
As soon as Kenji entered I jumped in to challenge him. The crowd got quiet and he turned to see me standing there.
"Sweetheart you dont want to be in this ring with me." He smiled looking over to DK but then back at me.
"Are you scared" I answered.
"Not scared of a girl but I don't have much to gain by beating a girl down. If I win I'm the guy that beat a small girl." "My oyabuns girl." If I loose who's to say I didnt just let you."
"I guess your only option is to kick my ass then." I smiled.
"You know I have only lost once in this ring. The odds do not favor you."
"Don't go easy on me." I answered getting in my fighting position.
He smiled and then began his stretching. I watched the guy kick start the crowd and then bounce around the ring for awhile. Cracking his neck back and forth as if it would intimidate me.
Morimoto stood up almost unsettled, getting ready to end a situation if it went badly. DK just held his hand up commanding him to stay calm.
Everyone patiently waited to see what would happen. Kenji was not a small guy. He had boxed plenty of times in that same ring. I never actually witnessed it but I could tell by his confidence and they way he handled himself that this fight may be a difficult one.
After he warmed up a bit he came at me with the first swing. I think at first he thought he had me but I was quick to dodge his first swings. After his first punch I held in my stomach as I knelt at my feet. I could tell he was taking it easy on me. Playing around like guys usually do with women was his first mistake.
He was distracted with the crowd and didn't see my fist upswing knocking him back. I assume he thought it was a lucky punch as he came at me without thinking. Everything got quiet as I swung at his groin. It was a cheapshot true but that was how I played. I immediately took the surprise drop kick that brought him down to my level. I was easily able to get a choke hold taking his neck between my legs.
Everyone was quiet when he tapped out. Quiet turned to screams as everyone was amazed at me taking down such a large fighter.
Morimoto just looked at DK with shock plastered across his face. Amazed that I put him down so easily.
"That's my girl. Watashi no kanojo." DK said in response as he grinned. "My little monster that they will never see coming."
