Looking down at it made me realize that it should be hurting more than it was.  It was alot more grotesque than it felt.  True I had been drinking whiskey but my hand looked uglier than a gash after giving birth.

D of course came in strong and confident looking to save the day as he always had.  He even made wrapping my hand up sexy.  Seemed as if making me smile was always his secret agenda.

Flicking the wrap out with that type of skill that made it seem he had done it many times before me. All careful and uptight like as if getting his suit dirty was not an option.

Some days I wondered why he even chose to hang out with the lot of us.  I used to think he did so wishing he could actually be that way however his family would never allow it.

"Let me see it" he demanded.  Grilling me about why I was upset as he looked me over.

Thinking about him made me miss spending time with him and also that maybe he was right.  I should give Sakura a chance.  There she was the next day.

"I'm busy Sakura."  I said getting on my bike.  Hoping to give the hint I didnt want company.

"Please can I come."

"Its just business. Rather boring." I said trying to get rid of her but she hopped on behind me anyway.

As soon as we pulled up to the strip mall a few guys from across the street started flirting. Yelling back for us to join them.

"You wanna go play?" She asked excited.

"No you go" I said brushing her off. I had things to do anyway and she was always with me it seemed. I watched her walk over to the guys before turning towards the glass door as I went about my business.

I opened the door to the sound of a ding. The man at the counter shot a look as he watched me skim over his store.

"Hey there." I'm here to collect." As soon as I said the words the man held a scowl. They always did but I was used to it. Even before I got into this business people didn't take well to me. "What ya got for me."

He just looked at me like he didn't quite understand.

"Look ya got a nice place. I dont want to smash shit up."

"We dont have anything. Its only the miss and I now."

"Look how about you just give me what you got and ill see what I can do." The man was old and I had a soft spot for old people. Its not that I wouldn't hurt old people. I did but I didn't like it. I preferred to be civil when it came to my elders.

"We work hard for what we have."

"You got to give me something. I have a soft spot for old folk so believe me when I say that I really dont want to."

He starts to go through his savings.. "I've heard about you."  His hands had began to shake.

"Then you know what im capable of." I added as I sifted through his collection of inscence. My favorite smell was the berry scents and the coconut I always loved the coconut.

"Its good that you like old people then." He added trying to make small talk. "You know we have others who come in take whats ours. Harrass us and arnt you suppose to be providing protection at the very least?"

"Yeah." he made a good point. "Ill work it out.. Look ill talk to my oyabun maybe we can make a deal."

The man just looked at me as if he were judging me for what I chose to do in life.

"If its not me in here making something work then someone else will be in here and they will tear this place up." I warned trying to make him feel better.

"We don't get too big profit around here but I have something I cant use.. maybe you use.." he gestured me to follow with his hand.

I followed the man cautiously to the back and down a basement of sorts..

"Look guy it wont work,, whatever you have planned here." Thinking this guy might try something. They always tried something. People were so predictable.

"You have skeptic mind.. anyone tell you that." he said in his old people accent. Smirking back at me as if he too realized I was just as predictable.

Then he opened a huge crate.. my eyes widened.. "Where did you get all this?"

It was like the heavens had opened up and split the skies. Explosives and ammo along with a few guns layed organized in a large black case that looked military.

"My son was military. He's gone now.

What was your name.

Mao yong Zheng.  You can use After?"

"Oh yeah." I said. " thank you very much Mr Zheng.  Dont worry about any money your good for now." I reassured the guy he would have no issues for awhile and that we would protect him.

After handing him my contact information and I finished up with the business owner...I hadnt even noticed she had returned. Waiting against my bike for me to return.

"What happened.. were they rude?"

"Na, I'd just rather be with you."

"Are you sure cuz i could go kick they're ass." She just gave a slight giggle and nodded her head.

"Whats in the case?"

"Nothin" I said and held it between us. Headed home to put that stuff up and decided to keep it quiet for now.

"You like it here, don't you."  She finally asked.

"Yeah I do"

"Whats it like where your from?"

"UsA. Brooklyn haha everywhere I've been is shit. What you hear?"

"Land of the dreams, or some shit."

"Anyone who says that has never been or never getting out."

I couldnt tell if I liked her asking questions. Why did she want to know so much. I kept thinking what is her play. I think I liked that she chose to be with me. It was nice to be chosen for once. A part of me was angry that I allowed myself to like her. A part of me still didn't want to let her in still it didn't seem she wasn't going anywhere.
