Chapter 30

"Good morning, class." Bati ko dahilan para magulat ang buong klase.

Mabilis silang tumahimik at umayos ng upo. Tumikhim naman ako bago kinuha kinonekta ang latop ko sa projector.

"I apologize for my sudden leave but I do hope you read the texts I assigned you to read." Seryoso kong sabi bago sila tinignan.

Bumakas ang taranta sa mga mukha nila, indikasyon na hindi nila ginawa ang pinapagawa ko. Huminga ako nang malalim para manatiling kalmado. I don't want to stress myself again after I just bounced back.

I continued my morning by catching up with our lessons. Miraculously, it kept my mind busy which is good because I won't have to deal with the monsters in my head. However, Hugo seems to have a magic spell because he can enter my mind freely. He just pops out of nowhere.

I hate the idea that he still loves me when he shouldn't be after the second he learned the truth. I am not the person he thought I am and if I were him, I will be run away from me. I just can't believe the fact that he accepted me when I can't even look at myself in the mirror for years. Hugo is the man I least expected to love me this way and it hurts knowing i don't deserve him.

As soon as went out of my last morning class, I was welcomed with a tight hug. Judging by the petite figure, it is Mirae.

"Kumusta ka na?" Nag-aalala nyang tanong nang humiwalay sya sa yakap.

Nginitian ko naman sya bago nag-simulang mag-lakad. Sumabay naman sya sa akin at ramdam ko ang nag-aalala nyang titig.

"I'm fine." Sagot ko bago sya muling nginitian pero base sa nanliliit nyang mga mata ay hindi sya naniniwala sa akin. I can't convince myself either anyway.

Mirae didn't answer after that and I am glad she can read between the lines because I really don't want to talk about it.

"Hugo was worried." She said when we entered my office.

I stopped for a split second at the mention of his name but I acted as if it didn't bother me.

"Yeah. Mama said he stayed at the house the whole time." Kaswal kong sagot kahit pa unti-unti na naming sumisikip ang dibdib ko.

Nag-aalala akong tinignan ni Mirae bago nya hinawakan ang kamay ko. Natatawa ko naman syang tinignan bago binawi ang kamay ko.

"Ayan na naman ang mga pader mo." Mahina nyang sabi habang seryoso akong tinitignan kaya naman nabura ang mapaglaro kong tingin.

I cleared my throat before I tried to look at the files in my desk, hoping it can make Mirae leave but she didn't. 

"Sya ang pino-protektahan ko." Tanging sagot ko dahilan para matahimik sya.

Mula sa lamesa ay linipat ko ang tingin ko sa kanya. Bakas sa mukha ni Mirae ang pagka-bigla kaya naman napa-buntong hininga ako.

"Normal lang naman matakot, Sierra lalo na at matagal na mula nang mag-mahal ka ulit. Pero sa nakikita ko, Hugo is ready to fight for his feelings for you. He really loves you which means he isn't afraid of the consequences in doing that." Sabi nya makaraan ang ilang segundo.

Natulala ako sa sinabi nya at hindi agad naka-sagot. I know the feeling of in love. It's ecstatic and makes you feel good everytime but sometimes, too much love can kill you. I've been to that stage and I can't let Hugo do the same mistake that I did.

"Hi. Is Hugo--- I mean, Mr. Guillermo here?" Tanong ko sa receptionist.

"Sorry, Ma'am but he's not here. Do you have an appointment with him?" Tanong nya.
