I’m going to start writing using present tense instead of past tense, since it seems easier for me.

[I edited this chapter because I wasn't satisfied with it.]

Moving a branch from his view, Izuku saunters forward, keeping his eyes peeled for any lurking class B students.

“Midoriya,” Uraraka, the person he was paired with, interrupts his train of thought. He turns his head to her direction, tilting it in question. “I noticed that you’ve been distancing yourself from me… did I do something wrong?”

Humming, Izuku turns his head back to his front. “Kacchan told me to stay away from you.”

“Oh,” Uraraka faces away, embarrassed. “Are you two a thing?”

Izuku pauses in his step, causing Uraraka to stop and look back at him in confusion.

“I’m not sure, honestly. I told him a secret, and I think he took it personally.” Izuku lowers his head, rubbing his hands together to dispel the eerie feeling surrounding him. Something is wrong-- it’s too quiet.

“I see. If you need anything, just tell me! I’ll-”

Izuku raises a hand, halting her words. She stares in bewilderment as his emerald eyes widen, as if he’s shocked.

That’s not right. My intel told me that they’re supposed to attack tomorrow!

The scent of burning wood on his nose makes him wince. The villains are attacking, and they’re early. To him, anyway. There could only be one explanation.

“Uraraka, you need to get to safety! There are villains in the area!” Izuku glances around and spots Tsu in the distance. He points at her, “There! Try to stick to as many of our classmates as you can. I’ll inform Mr Aizawa of the situation.”

“W-what?!” The brunette starts to panic. If he had not been in countless life-or-death situations, Izuku would be as scared as she is. “B-but you can’t–!”

“Go!” the greenette demands, the urgency in his voice startling Uraraka into silence. She nods and runs toward the direction Izuku pointed at.

Kota…

Mumbling curses under his breath, he makes his way back to the clearing of the forest, careful to be as stealthy as possible.

-

Kota! Return to the facility, now!” Mandalay’s alarmed voice echoes in Kota’s fear-clouded head. He pays her no mind as he backs away from a cloaked figure. “I’m sorry I can’t help you right now. Villains are attacking and they aren’t giving me a chance to breathe.

“W-who are you?!” Kota cried, tears pricking at the edges of his eyes.

“Your hat looks pretty nice. Would you trade it for this stupid mask?” The villain asks as he reaches up to remove his mask. In a blind panic, Kota begins running away.

The villain uses his Quirk to jump in front of the boy, a manic grin on his features. “You’re not in the Kill List, but I don’t think it’d be a problem to kill you.”

Glancing up, Kota’s black eyes widen in fear upon settling on a familiar face. The villain’s fierce constricted black pupils, ash-blond hair, the nasty scar over his left eye…

“Y-you’re…”

The villain winds up an arm, a wild grin striking Kota in a way that leaves the boy frozen in place. Kota shuts his eyes, praying to whatever deity that someone would save him.
