you gasped for air and sat up, realizing that you were back in your room. looking around, you took in the familiar surroundings. the pain in your head throbbed intensely, and as you clutched your temples, fragments of your memories from before you passed out flashed before your eyes.
the fog, the boulder blocking the entrance, and the ominous presence—everything came rushing back. your heart pounded as you tried to piece together the events that led to this moment.
-
"long time no see, princess," the man said, his cold blue eyes boring into yours like a predator sizing up its prey.
but you weren't his prey anymore.
"as expected, it seems fate has brought us together once more," you replied, trying to sound confident even as a part of you cringed inwardly.
you seized the moment when his guard was down, pushing his finger away from your chin. you quickly opened a portal beneath you and frost, reappearing a few meters away from him.
"getting all worked up already, are we?" he remarked, you heard faint cracks from the direction of the boulder behind you and noticed his breath using ki.
'never thought i'd be using these techniques,' you mused with a smirk. looking around, you assessed the situation. the boulder, while it had trapped charlotte and her squad, it kept them out of harm's way, and you didn't want them involved in this fight with a dark triad member.
you swiftly opened another portal beneath frost, sending her to safety in the side of the battlefield near the blocked entrance of the dungeon. then, you placed a barrier around her discreetly, ensuring she remained protected.
"you're trying to hurt me? haven't you seen your beloved parents' 'last' wish? don't you want to be a good girl and not disappoint them?" he said, his voice devoid of sarcasm, but dripping with a detached annoyance that only fueled your anger.
'beloved parents? no. more like demonic parents like you,' you thought, a torrent of curses and hatred swirling in your mind.
you despised him with every fiber of your being, you had vowed not to let your emotions take over in this confrontation.
"fuck you, zenon," you muttered under your breath, unleashing a flurry of small daggers of dark and light magic towards him.
but your hate for this man were too grave that you have to unleash some of the anger, or you'll blow up yourself.
the air crackled with the energy of your attack, and zenon's expression shifted slightly. he dodged with a casual grace, his eyes narrowing. "still as impulsive as ever," he said, his tone remaining irritatingly calm.
the daggers flew through the air with deadly speed, each one aimed with precision. zenon moved with a disconcerting ease, dodging your attacks as if they were nothing more than a mild annoyance. his bones shot out from your blind spots, forcing you to teleport just in time to avoid being impaled.
"quite the backstabber, aren't you?" you taunted, appearing in front of him with a swift teleportation. you aimed for his stomach, but a lack of focus due to the relentless attacks left you vulnerable.
he countered with a bone that pierced your side. you fell to the ground, coughing up blood as the pain surged through you. you gripped your stomach, trying to steady yourself against the searing agony.
frost's growl echoed around you, her protective instincts flaring as she saw your collapse.
'fuck, this hurts,' you thought, struggling to keep your consciousness. the world around you blurred as you tried to push through the pain, determined not to let zenon have you off guard.
